I haven’t quite given up, but I did give up on charging for it. Yesterday I made the game free. I have no ads of any kind in it, so I’m now hoping that making it free will just raise my company’s profile a little bit and maybe help the next game’s sales. I went from 1-4 downloads per day to 83 downloads yesterday. Quite a big difference. Except, no money, of course.
I’ve had some stuff come up that’s prevented me from making the necessary changes that I wanted, and now I don’t think I can make the changes now Christmas, so my new strategy is to follow a lot of the suggestions in this thread on my next game.
First, I’ll have a better quality picture as the first picture, showing the game running on an iPad/iPhone with just hands and cards.
Second, I’ll have the How To Play run when you click Start the first time, so you’re forced to go through it at least once.
Third, I need to add Facebook/Twitter integration, and some easier way to rate the game, so people will be able to “spread the word” a little easier. Following onto this – I didn’t have the Christmas Crazy Eights facebook page ready at launch (because I was so excited to just get the game out there).
Fourth, I may name the next game similar to what Philipp recommended and add “Party” to the end or something like that.
Fifth, I probably should have had my company’s website redesigned before I launched, but I only just did that (http://www.downcastsystems.com) last week.
All great suggestions, and thanks, Carlos, for giving us such a great (and fun) tool! [import]uid: 80784 topic_id: 17760 reply_id: 73868[/import]
