2019 Roadmap, when?

Imho Corona Labs Inc. course through years is pretty normal.

It’s a small company with a good product.

Changing owners etc… etc… is pretty normal.

Also it’s not hard to predict the future of companies like this one.

Will change owner again or Appodeal will change owner!

Corona will eclipse when there will be an sdk that give us the same and more.

And if that happens we are not going to have problem.

We will already use the new and better product :stuck_out_tongue:

I could write so many more things about it but I really don’t think there is a good reason to do it.

About Unity being as easy as Corona… well it doesn’t matter what I say.

Anybody can find out

Rob has told us that everything will be ready in time.

When I say that to my customers I expect them to believe me.

It would be great if 100 people were working and let me know that in 6 weeks, 2 days and 11 hours everything will be ready.

That’s not happening with Corona. It’s a small company.

I respect everybody and I could be 100% wrong but I will not post again in this topic.

Imho (again) It’s not fair for Corona.

I get that Corona is a small company with limited resources and all, but we’re are not talking about posting essays or whitepapers here.

So far i haven’t heard any good reason why they are not able to spend 5-10 minutes on the blog once or twice a month to keep their userbase informed and assured.

Skip one of those daily builds if that helps, it won’t affect us much, we’ll get the next one.

Please don’t soil C++ by putting it near the word javascript or worse in the same sentence.

Sorry for soiling C++! I know there’s a big difference between the two, but from a readability point of view they are on the same level for me.

As for the other engines, I don’t like Unity. I only do 2D games (no interest in doing 3D games) and Unity still feels like 2D was an afterthought. I have a few started project in Unity in different state of completion.

I like Defold and have it installed on my machine, but it is currently missing a bunch of things that Corona has and I don’t feel like making plugins. A few months back the only ad plugin I can find was from Spiral Code Studio and they take a portion of your impressions. I rather pay a fixed amount a year or upfront.

And I also like Felgo but I have never gotten a straight answer if I need a Qt license (which is thousands of dollars a year) for commercial games.

So for me, I feel like I am stuck on Corona. I am not worried about marketable skills and can’t imagine working on Unity all day even if that was the only paying job I could find. I still know more C++ that the average dude and if I need to work on something dreaded to pay the bills, I can always get a job doing that.

Straight forward is fine.

I agree the logo will need a rework but the font is straight out of the android bible (noto family). Anyway, font can be changed from within the app.

I just downloaded the app from store and it worked with both a spotify account login as well as a Facebook registered spotify account login. You know that a spotify account is required?

What messages do you get? Could you perhaps send me a screenshot to anaqimlabs@gmail.com?

Thanks!

Just renewed my subscription for Splash Screen and Admob Plugin. Going to trust my guts that Corona will still be around in the foreseeable future and will only get better.  Please do not disappoint me, Corona!

Indeed! I absolutely LOVE Corona for all my 2d needs. It has enough handy features without boxing you into a certain style/workflow. We just have to keep the community strong and it should survive. Tell your friends how easy it is to get started in Corona and how easy it is to publish to different platforms etc.

Reading this topic, it has come to mind, why you can not pay for Facebook ads? They are powerful and it would be very easy to run them for donations. I have seen forums in which the server is paid with donations. So Corona Staff can make “ads runs on donations” where each developer interested in contribute cause do not have enough skills to help in Corona core code, like me, can contribute, do not know, 10 dollars a month, even if not every month and publish ads on Facebook when the cuota reach $100 to attract new developers. Just thinking.

I’ve been working with both Corona and Unity frameworks in the past 4-5 years and I can tell one thing, for 2D games, I prefer Corona by far. Lua language makes prototyping so smooth and quick! It’s the perfect tool for making hypercasual games as I’m doing at the moment.

How soon is it planned to add a build for Nintendo switch?
