App Rejected: Doesn't take advantage of iOS6 APIs

Hey, @sjerrett, I was just sharing a thought on how it might be possible to implement something that could get your app approved. The goal is not really about collecting donations (although I used the word) but rather about using IAP in some ways that may help your app approved – if the minimum requirement is to have one of the features that appears on the page you posted.

I wonder if charitable organization is prohibited from selling virtual item using IAP in some ways. If so, I suppose using IAP as a feature is not an option.

But if it is not legally or otherwise prohibited from selling a virtual item, like a badge, a flower, a ribbon, or whatever, that users can buy to decorate the app for their enjoyment, it may just do the job? No?

And if the charitable organization is legally allowed to sell virtual item, but does not wish to take any money generated by the app, perhaps it can donate any money they make from the app to some good cause they believe in. No?

Just trying to think of a workaround – especially since it sounds like your client is already happy with what you delivered so far. If adding one IAP feature could help you get the app approved, I thought it might be worth a thought. But perhaps the idea like this isn’t acceptable for your app? Maybe there’s no hope for your app with the current Corona – is that the conclusion you’ve come to?

I’d add a Facebook Share button to the app and possibly a scroll view to display some information.

Hope this helps,

How about push notification, with some sort of reminder sent from your server?

You might also want to vote for (and if not already there, add) the missing feature:

In all honesty, just going by your description, it sounds like an app that they feel could be done with a web page and Safari. It doesn’t do anything that requires it be an app taking space in the store. Saying it uses no iOS 6 technologies I think is there way of saying, “we can’t even showcase it as an example of an app using iOS 6 features”.

This does seem to stem from all the integration you could do with iOS 6 is not available with Corona. If your doing apps like this I can see Corona Enterprise being of great value to you. [import]uid: 56820 topic_id: 35615 reply_id: 141762[/import]

I know Apple has previously rejected apps that are too simple or are really just webpages and didn’t have any features that made it an “app”. I think perhaps saying “iOS 6 features” may really mean “iOS features”. Does it have any list views? Buttons, screens that flip (have some animation to them)? can you swipe to scroll the content (not a scroll view but go from story to story by swiping?)

Can you put up some screen shots some where for us to see or perhaps a YouTube video demoing the app? [import]uid: 199310 topic_id: 35615 reply_id: 141785[/import]

Wow, Corona Enterprise might just be the ticket! I didn’t realize this was available. Thanks!

For now, I’m going to add some sort of FB/Twitter integration, and add a native map and see if that is enough. These features will really add little to function of this app, but what can you do? [import]uid: 87249 topic_id: 35615 reply_id: 141985[/import]

FWIW, I think that should get your app through. The Facebook and Twitter buttons could help promote your non-profit and be beneficial actually.

This may be late, but i hope it helps.

We once had a client app rejected due to lack of functionality. On appeal, they kindly scheduled a call with a rep in california… this was not a way of appealing, just a different way of them saying no.

I explained this was a client app and it does what the client wants… so what should we do… they replied by telling us to look through the 1000s of iOS APIs and find something.

I suggested a feature to the client and added it, then the app was accepted.

The app contained no notifications, no social, no gamecenter, no passbook… they just wanted an app that had more functionality as it is an app not a webpage.

Although annoying, i can see their point. The revised and approved app has now passed 10,000 downloads, and i doubt i was the main feature that people go back to it for … i think it was the useful extra i suggested (but i can be smug like that).

Hope this helps.
