Does Corona SDK support Amazon GameCircle?

Everyone always wants something from Corona :slight_smile:

The feedback tool is great because it allows Corona to prioritize which updates users want the most.  I can completely understand if it isn’t integrated because you guys do so much already.

Just started getting suspicious spam warnings from the links in the emails aboaut in this thread.  Is Corona using mandrillapp.com to send mail?

Right, GameCircle is now one of the requirements for their promotions.  Thanks, David and CoronaLabs for acknowledging the importance of GameCircle and for letting us know it’s in the works.

Amazon has this interesting promotion for developers but requires that games support GameCircle.

GameCircle is required:

  • Amazon Services Adoption: Apps must exclusively use the Amazon In-App Purchasing (IAP) API (if your app enables in-app purchasing of supported digital products) and use on a non-exclusive basis Amazon Mobile Ads API (if your app presents ads). Games must integrate with GameCircle, including WhisperSync for Games and at least one of Leaderboards or Achievements.

Hi guys. Unfortunately I do not have an update yet. The 3rd party working on the plugin is still figuring a couple of things out. Hopefully we will have more news soon.

I personally feel like there are just so many other important things that Corona could improve upon first before working on Gamecircle.  Honestly services that provide leaderboards etc just aren’t really needed when you can just write your own.  I would rather see more support for PC Mac Windows Xbox Wii ETC like unity :slight_smile:

Prioritize the new functionalities to develop is not something easy. Develop a GameCircle plugin, although it may not be important as support extra platform, would be something extremely easy to do compare to that. So, in terms of prioritization, it may make sense. It is what we call as a “quick-win” in the Prioritization Matrix methodology.

The point behind GameCircle is not the leaderboard feature, but provide a better integration with the Amazon Platform, allowing our games to participate in promotions like mentioned above and other benefits.

I personally don’t feel the need for build for console devices, but you know, everyone has its own needs. 

I would just like to see Corona using the Feedback system. We, users, spend time and provide the valuable information of what is important to us to that system and sometimes I feel that Corona simply ignore it.

Btw, Build to Windows is there in the Feedback system, so you are not alone in your request :slight_smile:

I am completely aware of the difficulty of the things I mentioned.  I’m just saying there is really no need for GameCircle when getting visibility on Amazon is really easy already.  I think two of my apps have been in the top 100.  

I do agree, there does need to be some sort of feature where users define what should be in the next Corona patch.

That feature already exist: http://feedback.coronalabs.com. Now, if it is being really used only Corona knows… my view as an user is that they ignore it most of it (in terms of what should be done next).

Yes GameCircle is probably not super useful but as Renato said, it would really helps us get more visibility if Amazon like our app. I agree not all features are created equal and I think GameCircle (or like Nextpeer multiplayer) are low hanging fruits that we would be stupid not to take advantage of. After all what is the point of making apps if nobody knows about them :slight_smile: Mo

Hi guys. A few points:

  1. We want to get GameCircle in there. There have been some complications in coordinating this between Amazon, a 3rd party and us. We will get there.

  2. We absolutely pay attention to the feedback tool. Of course (as we have explained before) we have to balance that feedback with other things. But the feedback is important.

I actually do agree that GameCircle is important, if only because Amazon wants to see it in order to give certain promotional consideration.
