Well, it’s at least good to hear an update on the plugin’s progress. It’s not exactly clear to me why wj.francis was able to write his own functioning Enterprise plugin without rewriting the native Amazon SDK, but I defer to the tech titans at Amazon and CL. I’m sure they know what they’re doing.
Stephen - I should have been a little clearer. The problem is not making a plugin that will work when building locally (with Corona Enterprise). The problem comes when you have to turn that into a plugin that sits on our server so that any Corona SDK developer can include it at build time.
Let’s hope that Game Circle with Corona SDK is not too far away in time! :o
My game was just rejected because it does not integrate with Amazon Game Circle. So I am dead in the water with Amazon unless I can figure this out. I was able to successfully get the game on Google Play. Mind you, my point and click game does not keep scores, achievements, or use leader-boards???
“Games must integrate withGameCircle, including WhisperSync for Games and either Leaderboards or Achievements.”
From the above statements it sounds like I am pretty much dead in the water with Amazon??
I would like to know why they (Amazon) would require a point and click game, which uses none of the things mentioned in the Game Circle services, to be forced to use their service? Where Google Play does not?
Whoa - is that a new requirement?! I think maybe you got a bad reviewer. Can’t imagine them requiring that across the board.
OK my bad - I misunderstood the message in my Amazon Developer console. This is my first time publishing. Game circle failed but they published the game anyway! So I suppose I am okay - I hope… I checked on my Kindle fire and searched for the game and it came up on their store

whew … that would have been a nightmare!
@David, any news on this?
This is mandatory for the developer select program with Amazon, and it’s been over a year that someone is supposed to work on this.
Thanks in advance for any update and/or ETA.
Game Circle is way overdue - what’s going on?
Has anyone recently updated an app with Game Circle and noticed a big difference?
I had a paid app in march that qualified for developer select (before they required Game Circle). I had over 2K downloads that month, instead of the usual 50 or so.
I assume iPhone6 / iOS8 is using up all their engineering resources right now (rightfully so … I mean in a perfect world they’d have more engineers, but gotta prioritize)
According to previous posts, they had contracted out the work to an external team.
That team found an issue with the Amazon SDK that made it impossible to implement on their end to work with how Corona builds the apps, so Corona let Amazon know that they should change it in their SDK, and Amazon was considering it. But then Corona made changes in their build process that might have allowed it to work, but dead silence since then, so I guess not.
I think it’s safe to say that this is the normal pain of choosing a small company’s product, because it’s never going to be everything you need it to be.
Would be nice to get an update on the status of this feature, even though the window is closing, the iron is cold, and the dust is settling on the empty playa as the sun sets in the West…
In my mind Game Circle has been a massive fail on the part of the guys at Corona. I realize that they can’t support everything that comes out but last I checked Amazon Kindle represented the most successful Android tablet platform on the market. It’s like saying we support iPad except for the iPad mini.
Having messed with the Amazon GC circle quite a bit myself, I agree that from a technical perspective it is not the most clean implementation. But clearly after a year, Amazon doesn’t intend to change it to support Corona’s model. And in Amazon’s defense it is working with Unity, Android Native SDK, iOS native SDK, and HTML 5. I think the Corona plugin model is great, but when something comes along that doesn’t quite fit into, and it is as important as this is for the customer base, Corona needs to be more flexible.
I created a plugin for the Enterprise version, and found that it would not fit into the existing Corona plugin model. However, neither does Facebook. And again from the perspective of technical difficulty, it simply isn’t. It seemed that on the Corona side it would only be a matter of modifying the current server side script files to copy over the Amazon required resources, when a user included the plugin in the build settings file. Again, very much like the existing support for Facebook is done now. Worst case scenario I suggested just adding the required files to all the Kindle builds, since we have to choose Kindle as the target anyhow. Those who are compiling for Kindle and not using Game Circle would see an extra 5MB or so tacked onto the resulting APK. Again not ideal but much better than punting which is what I feel like Corona has done.
Despite being very happy with Corona as a development environment in most regards, this single issue had me meeting with my development partner over the weekend investigating the lift required to port our existing games to Unity 2D. It’s a shame really since I’ve grown really fond of Corona and its community over the last couple years. Still at the end of the day if I can’t distribute my games on Kindle, for me and my business needs, it is simply not the right cross-platform tool.
So, just to be clear:
current CoronaSDK licensing model(pro) is not compatible with KindleSDK.
I`m correct?
It’s super easy in Unity.
I understand everyone’s frustration and I share it. A third party has been working on it for Amazon and it is out of our control to some degree.
However, the good news is that just this morning I was on an email exchange and we may be close. We are going to do some quick testing today to see if it’s there. I am hoping that it could be done by the end of this week. I’ll post here soon with an update.
I would just be happy if you guys allowed gremlins plugin to be updated by ingemar a lot of us cannot even update or post any games to itunes because ios8 isn’t compliant with chartboost 4.0 sdk but ingemar has updated it which only helps enterprise users.

You guys need a lot of work in the plugin department, for example Airpush is trying to get their plugin working on corona as well but cannot even get a response from you guys, I have even sent in a contact/support request and I never even heard anything back.
I am about ready to jump ship as well Unity is simple to program in and just as easy to intergrate sdks and the only two I care about you guys don’t even respond to which is worse than anything the lack of response to contact/support requests (other than sales) is just plain wrong in my book.
+1 on thinking about Unity
