Google Play 64-bit requirement

Rob I have read all your post in this thread a couple of times and I still have this question: If I build natively with no Java marketplace plugins and the 64 bit build of Corona it will be a 64 bit build?

Yes you can build 64-bit apks

Thank you!. So at least for me this thread is much ado about nothing. I guess I’ll start converting my apps.

Do update this thread with your findings on 64 bit APKs.

Especially performance when you put the apps into production.  ANRs, crashes, etc.

I’m not familiar with the process so I don’t know if this is possible but I’ll ask anyway. When the migration to this new build system is complete is everything going to be 64-bit compliant like plugins, libraries etc. or are we going to wait for those to be comply to this requirement?

So my app works perfectly fine. No java plugins but as expected the lua library plugins work fine. @SGS sorry but my game aren’t performance type of games so not sure I can provide any feedback there. I add Appodeal back to the project and it builds but haven’t found a way to call it from the lua side. I’ll try to figure that out tomorrow. Just an update for today.

From google: “Existing games built with Unity 5.6.6 or older will have until August 1, 2021 to comply.” Why does unity get special treatment lmao

Unity is the largest mobile game platform in the world.  >50% of all mobile games are built on that single platform.

About 90% of the mobile market is divided up between Unity and the next 2 competitors.  Corona and the dozens of other niche competitors fight for those last percentages.

No market is going to piss off Unity because they represent most of the world’s developers.

Corona is less than 0.5% of the market so no concessions for us.  AdMob just broke and when I reported it to Google they simply said “oh we don’t test against Corona”

49 days until deadline

Is anyone able to publish his app?

I always get a warning when I want to submit an apk for a test…

Does that mean I will have to wait until corona update to make a test?

I recently (last week) submitted an app, an update to an existing one, and albeit some warnings got it published no problem.

Until before August 1 will be able to publish updates and upload new app, but after that date will no longer be possible if the app is not compiled in 64bits

OK, thank you very much for your replies.

You really don’t have to remind us how many days are left. We are perfectly aware of this.

If you’re getting warnings from the Google Play console, other than this 64 bit warning, we want to hear about it. If you cannot successfully upload and publish your app today, look for gray triangles on the left hand side of the Google Play console and solve those problems. There are zero reasons you cannot submit a Corona App today.

Rob

I had the same problem - turned out I hadn’t finished setting up my store page (grey triangle on the left) - even though the warnings did not mention this.

Even though its only a test you still need to complete your store page - so check this.

Hey!, don’t be panic about this critical update .

I am very much sure that Rob will definitely find a way about this .

Believe on Corona , believe on Rob and also on Corona Engineers…

I saw it in the daily build.

This seems to be good news.

I need to do my best Jedi Mind trick here. “These are not the droids you are looking for”.

Maybe we will have something to say in a few days.

Thanks for your effort Rob,

I recieved a message in my google play developer console indicating than i have to migrate to version 3 of google API before december 1, 2019. Does this have something to do with the 64-bit requirement?
