Hello LaunchPad!

Hey All:

InMobi provides test IDs if you want to just test ads on your apps until approval. Here are the IDs:

iOS TestApp ID:4028cb962895efc50128fc99d4b7025b

Android Test App ID:4028cb962895efc50128fc993f9f025a

It should work fine after that.

I second the need for an ability to disable analytics. As nice as this info can be for developers, as a rule I don’t like being watched, and so I wouldn’t want to expose those who download my games to being watched either unless they say it’s okay.

  • We have two modes: live and test. If you’d like to test and your App is not yet uploaded to iTunes/Market, you indicate this during the site registration form. For example, in Android case, for example, the question is: Is this App certified and available in the android market? Select “no”, and we will set you up with a test environment to send us traffic.
  • This is true if you answered “yes” to the previous question, otherwise we’ll approve/activate your site in test mode shortly.

I can not get ads working. I have app id and status is “activated”. But ads just doesnt show. I have tried ads sample app, but it doesnt work. Using Android 2.3.5 and I dont have ad blocker; I can see ads for example in Angry Birds. [import]uid: 18445 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48613[/import]

uapo15 - I got it working on my Android 2.2 galaxy tab, however it took it forever for the first ad to load. Sometimes it takes about 6 seconds… other times can be as long as 20 seconds [import]uid: 29520 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48628[/import]

Glad to hear that, but I waited few minutes and it still doesnt show anything. Hope Ansca will fix this soon. [import]uid: 18445 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48632[/import]

its not us - the inmobi servers take a while for it to show the ads.

we are aware and they are also monitoring the forum.

I tried my own ID’s and the Test ID’s provided here. None have worked for me. I’ve waited up to 30 mins on both iOS and Android - no luck. I tried the sample app, as well as my own app, and neither worked. I can’t think of anything else to try… Shouldn’t the test ID’s at least work? I can’t get anything to work. Now ads are working! But sometimes ads doesnt show at all, sometimes I need to wait 5-10 seconds until they show. But 90% of time ads are working great.
What kind of ads should I see? I see only few ads: “Download free Android Apps”, “Download free Android Games”, “Download free Android themes” If I click all those ads, it takes me to same web site. I have set test mode = false, so I should see live ads. Or is problem in localization; I am from Finland, so do I see Finland only ads?

PS: I tested ads with ad blocker in Android and it doesnt block inMobi ads! :stuck_out_tongue: [import]uid: 18445 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48746[/import]

I am incredibly disappointed with InMobi, and it worries me that this was selected as a launch partner.

To start, their website (speaking as a web developer myself) is atrocious. CAPTCHAs wouldn’t load; I was getting non-stop JavaScript errors while trying to register; some links do nothing; others provide zero feedback. It took me nearly five hours to finally complete registration and get into the site. I’m aware this timeframe appears non-typical, but it speaks to the quality of the website and perhaps the software itself.

Secondly, their model makes absolutely no sense. You can’t receive test ads on your account until your app is live. They advise you to use a test account…and then activate your app when it goes live. To me, that means there is technically a period between Apple approval and InMobi’s where your fill rate will be 0. What is the point of a test mode if you can’t use it prior to app completion?

Finally, InMobi’s grasp of the English language is barely existent. Now, I understand that this is a global market, and perfect English is not necessarily the mark of a quality company. (Just look at my screen name; I celebrate all languages.) However, if you choose to use English, bad English is a strong display of unprofessionalism. …and I’m not talking about a wrong word here or there. Check out this paragraph from one of the few dozen emails it took to get my account working:

“The current status of your app on site id you have mentioned is ‘Incomplete’. Until the it gets to ‘Activated’ the ad serving will not happen.”

These are the points I have to mention after cooling off from fury last night. I could probably list for hours more issues I have with this company.

I can estimate that most of the response I’ll see here is that I don’t have to use this service. …and I did have AdMob working rather well using the web popup tricks the forum members have so beautifully demonstrated. …but there’s at least one major point to take from this rant of mine:

I shall now forever be wary of future Ansca partnerships. When I found that there was an ads module coming to Corona, I got excited at official support for something like AdMob or iAds. …and while they may be in the pipeline, InMobi was what Ansca decided to use as a launch partner, thereby making a bold statement.

I’m still a huge fan of Corona, and I doubt much can tear me away. …and I know how a rant sounds from someone who hasn’t had the troubles I’ve had. …but I’m not here to rant for the fun of it (although, frankly, it appears I’m pretty good at it. hehe). I’m merely expressing a worrying concern in the hopes that someone out there agrees and perhaps a lesson can be found somewhere in the depths of my words…which few probably read in its entirety. hehe

Thanks for such a great product, Ansca…but please tell me you understand what I’m saying. [import]uid: 21712 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48802[/import]

@oddlingustics

we do. i read every word. also - please note the inmobi guys are reading this and they have setup a email hotline at ansca@inmobi.com and i encourage you to email them as well and cc me if you want to.

we are working close with them to ameliorate some issues brought forth by users like yourself and inmobi has been very open and attentive. please make sure to let them know as well.

thanks for your feedback

carlos [import]uid: 24 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48816[/import]

Thanks for responding, Carlos. To that point, I emailed that very address with some problems I was having and received no response. The only response I ever received was through their standard support platform. (I made sure I tried every resource possible before publicly complaining…hehe)

I understand this might not be a good question right now considering your partnerships, but are there plans to support other ad networks via this API? It seems like the infrastructure is there, but (although I’m sure you can’t give specifics yet), is this something we can expect? Soon, I hope? hehe

I hope they do solve their issues and that other users have enjoyable experiences, but I’m afraid they lost the First Impression Game for me, and I doubt they can win it back. We’ll see. Thanks again for your time.
Sincerely,
Christopher David YUDICHAK

PS
Sorry I have a long and weird username, which a lot of people seem to get wrong. hehe [import]uid: 21712 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48819[/import]

i escalated the issue to the sr. circle at inmobi.

My ads for our game Redneck Jellyfish went live on our android version yesterday (and reduced the price to free) and I’ve been pretty happy with the results so far today.

I’m wondering if the 75% fill rate is normal? And is there a way to test the ads table to see if an ad is currently being displayed/filled (so we can show a static ad or something?) [import]uid: 29520 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48829[/import]

BTW - I looove that after clicking an ad, the back button automatically takes them right back to the game where they left off. Nice! [import]uid: 29520 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48830[/import]

quick note guys :

inMobi is setting up a swat team to help you guys with the issues and have taken a proactive approach to start calling some of you with the issues first hand to learn and resolve fast.

They are also on the way to our office to see where we can work to expedite/ameliorate some of the pain points being experienced.

we are moderating this closely and hopefully find solutions really quick so everyone can start monetizing.

Hello, everyone. Remember me? I’m the guy who ranted on and on a few posts up? hehe I have an update of sorts, and I felt I should share with you.

It’s both humbling and terrifying that I was a bullet point on an executive’s agenda today. hehe Carlos and Gregory have been helpful by reaching out to me and trying to solve the issues that I (and maybe others) have had setting up and using InMobi. As Gregory mentioned, the JavaScript issues seem to have been resolved, and the Help Center is skillfully written. To that specific point, I’d remind you that the support team was where I was having the most language issues; my point about English proficiency and its relation to professionalism still stands.

As for the strange testing, Gregory mentioned that it may be resolved with a new version of the SDK, which I believe Ansca just recently received or will soon. Does Ansca have any insight on how long integrating that and pushing a new build may take? …and can you tell what changes are incorporated there? Something to change the testing structure, perhaps? It still makes me feel like the very model InMobi uses allows for a period of time between an app going live and InMobi beginning to deliver ads. That sounds like bad news to me, but I’m willing to admit ignorance here.

As it stands, my test ads appear to be working for now. If I run into a problem, I’ll be sure to direct it to the proper resource and see about getting it fixed. The only major issue I’m having now is the show/hide crashing bug, which I’m hoping Ansca patches up soon. hehe

With all this, it seems most of my points were addressed relatively completely. I still have qualms and valid points, but perhaps they will subside as well. Regardless, having a good cleanup crew does not a company make, and I still step hesitantly through these fixes. I thank Carlos and Gregory once again for responding to my (incredibly loud) complaints, and I hope total resolution is in the cards.
Sincerely,
Christopher David YUDICHAK [import]uid: 21712 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48856[/import]
