I am incredibly disappointed with InMobi, and it worries me that this was selected as a launch partner.
To start, their website (speaking as a web developer myself) is atrocious. CAPTCHAs wouldn’t load; I was getting non-stop JavaScript errors while trying to register; some links do nothing; others provide zero feedback. It took me nearly five hours to finally complete registration and get into the site. I’m aware this timeframe appears non-typical, but it speaks to the quality of the website and perhaps the software itself.
Secondly, their model makes absolutely no sense. You can’t receive test ads on your account until your app is live. They advise you to use a test account…and then activate your app when it goes live. To me, that means there is technically a period between Apple approval and InMobi’s where your fill rate will be 0. What is the point of a test mode if you can’t use it prior to app completion?
Finally, InMobi’s grasp of the English language is barely existent. Now, I understand that this is a global market, and perfect English is not necessarily the mark of a quality company. (Just look at my screen name; I celebrate all languages.) However, if you choose to use English, bad English is a strong display of unprofessionalism. …and I’m not talking about a wrong word here or there. Check out this paragraph from one of the few dozen emails it took to get my account working:
“The current status of your app on site id you have mentioned is ‘Incomplete’. Until the it gets to ‘Activated’ the ad serving will not happen.”
These are the points I have to mention after cooling off from fury last night. I could probably list for hours more issues I have with this company.
I can estimate that most of the response I’ll see here is that I don’t have to use this service. …and I did have AdMob working rather well using the web popup tricks the forum members have so beautifully demonstrated. …but there’s at least one major point to take from this rant of mine:
I shall now forever be wary of future Ansca partnerships. When I found that there was an ads module coming to Corona, I got excited at official support for something like AdMob or iAds. …and while they may be in the pipeline, InMobi was what Ansca decided to use as a launch partner, thereby making a bold statement.
I’m still a huge fan of Corona, and I doubt much can tear me away. …and I know how a rant sounds from someone who hasn’t had the troubles I’ve had. …but I’m not here to rant for the fun of it (although, frankly, it appears I’m pretty good at it. hehe). I’m merely expressing a worrying concern in the hopes that someone out there agrees and perhaps a lesson can be found somewhere in the depths of my words…which few probably read in its entirety. hehe
Thanks for such a great product, Ansca…but please tell me you understand what I’m saying. [import]uid: 21712 topic_id: 13159 reply_id: 48802[/import]
