My developer is saying the exact same thing. he says that it is from corona. Please take a look at this image and tell me whether you think this is some sort of scam or not?
That message is not from Corona. We don’t do anything with regards to setting up developer portal accounts. It looks like a scam site. I can’t see the URL in the screen shot, but given there is a typo in the title and that Apple doesn’t do three year and lifetime accounts, something else is wrong. Make sure you’re going to the real Apple developer portal and that your computer is not infected with a virus or malware.
Rob
Thanks Rob. I have asked him why the URL was not in the picture and he didn’t give me a straight answer. I was also sure that the message was not official as the level of English is simply horrendous. Also, is it even possible to close a subscription option due to high volume. Nothing sounds convincing and I am wondering what I should do next. I mean is there even such thing as a Corona based iTunes account?? Every time I ask to see evidence of what he is doing, he threatens me that he will cancel the contract (which he has no right to do) and not give me a refund. I am in a very tight situation here, and am really looking for some guidance.
Many thanks,
Tom
We really are not in a position to provide you advice on how to do deal with contractors. That’s best left to your lawyer.
But it might helps us understand things and provide some options if we have more context. What is it you’re trying to do with the Apple Developer Portal?
Rob
Ye I’m going to have to get my lawyer involved…
He is saying that the app was built with Corona and so a regular Apple Developer’s license will not suffice, and so I would need a Corona based iTunes account. That’s the wording he used, just as @pauldanielromero. He also sent the exact same incoherent instructions, which makes me believe that both he and I have dealt with the same person. I sent @pauldanielromero a message, but he has been offline for 5 months, so I doubt he will be answering it. I came across this page before I sent him money, but assumed that because @pauldanielromero had said nothing about it being a scam then it must be ok.
So my questions for you are:
Is there such thing as a Corona based iTunes account (I really dont think this exists)
Can an app which has been made in Corona be deployed to the App Store using the regular USD$99/year developer account?
Many thanks,
Tom
Oh I forgot to mention, I basically want this app to be deployed and for me to test it and change it then
Apple offers two types of developer accounts: Individual and Corporate. Individual is $99 + tax a year. Corporate is like $300 + tax. The team version allows multiple developers to share the one account.
Your iTunes Connect account is tied to your AppleID you used to create your developer account and pay for your developer subscriptions. You can setup additional AppleID’s to access your iTunes Connect account with various roles.
Yes, you can deploy apps to iOS users using the standard $99 a year account. It’s the account I use and almost everyone else. There is no such thing as a “Corona based iTunes account”.
Where this gets confusing is there are a couple of ways to do this.
Scenario 1 - Developer has his own account, you have your own account and you both use Corona SDK. He builds and tests using his developer credentials. I have a couple of fake Apps defined in the Provisioning Profile (Test1 and Test2) that are tied to my credentials and certificates. I can add your devices to my 100 allotted devices and get you installable test versions. When it comes time to deploy, I actually give you the entire project including the source (m any developers won’t want to do this). You then do the final build and deploy it to your iTunes connect account.
Pro’s: No intermingling of provisioning profiles, keys and certificates. Having multiple development credentials is a pain in the behind. You have long term control. You keep things in your control. The contractor doesn’t have long term management commitments. Payments come to your account not the developers.
Cons: Developer has to relinquish control of their source. You have to have the skills to manage your own profiles, certificates and portal information.
Scenario 2: You give the developer access to your credentials. They will have to setup their Xcode with your certificates and keys, and they can do all of the work for you.
Pros: You don’t have to do anything.
Cons: You’re giving up a lot of security. It is a pain on the developer to implement.
First step is to not send this guy any more money. Next I would ask for the source code he has written so far. That way if the deal falls through maybe someone else on this forum can help you complete your project. The way this is looking (with the weird requests and fake screenshot) I’m guessing he’s trying to rip you off.
All of my clients created individual Apple accounts and I just logged in through it and uploaded the app. No problemo with that.
However In Google Play client can add you as team member and you can operate under his account without logging out from yours.
If you will need some help with the source code you can PM me anytime.
Thank you guys very much. It is great knowing that I have so much support. I was really not expecting people to be so Helpful!! Thanks. I will let you know how it goes, but my first step I think is going to be asking for the source code. Thanks once again!! Really!!
