How can I test my App in a real iPad, not on the simulator?

Yes, they tell you why.  Sometimes it can be cryptic.  Some times they provide screen shots.  Sometimes you may have to click on a link to go to their “Resolution Center” where there are more details.

My first submission passed and I was tickled.  There was a lot of worry and stress about being rejected and when it wasn’t there was jubilation.   Of course, you will get rejected at some point and when you get that email you’re heart will sink, but then you find out it’s usually fixable and you fix it, re-submit it and things are good.

The Apple app screeners are not Ogres.  They have a tough job to do and it’s a job the community appreciates.  Once you are good with the fact that they are doing you a favor life is good.

In fact, my update to Omniblaster got rejected this week because I was donating some of its sales to a charity, but Apple dosn’t permit that now, so I had to make a change to the meta data and resubmit the meta data, and I was up a few hours later.

I wish I could make the anxieties that come with your first few submissions go away.  Just be aware, they will go away the more comfortable you become with the process.

Woo Hoo!

Thank you Rob, for sharing your story with me.

I’ll do whatever it takes to have my app in the store.

Now How do I summit the app?

Victor

I have downloaded and installed the starter pack. When i run the corona, it said “you are still using the trial version”.

So honestly, can i really test my app on actual device using this starter (trial) version of corona? Because i can’t find the menu File -> Build. (I don’t see any menu actually…)

Should i purchase the $600 product for testing? But i can’t afford that right now. Any solution?

Thank you.

Hi @wilychristian,

Can you please give me some more details? Which version of Corona did you download? OS X or Windows? Did you open the Corona Simulator and authorize it using the e-mail address that you signed up with?

To answer your question, you can definitely develop and build (and submit to market) using Corona Starter. I’m not sure why these issues are occurring.

Sincerely,

Brent Sorrentino

Wow thanks for your quick reply Brent…

I’m on OS X 10.6.8.

I thought the latest corona’s release need OS X 10.7, so i downloaded  CoronaSDK-2011.704a.dmg  from https://developer.coronalabs.com/content/coronasdk-2011704-0

I opened Corona Terminal, which is automatically opened the simulator. I’m pretty sure have entered the right email. Or is there a way to verify this?

For additional info, i don’t have apple’s certificate yet. I have only the developer ID.

I don’t see File menu either in guide here: http://docs.coronalabs.com/guide/start/installMac/index.html#welcome-window

Do i miss something?

Hi @wilychristian,

The version you downloaded is very old (from 2011) and I don’t recommend that you use it. To get any mileage out of Corona, you’ll need to use a recent version with OS X 10.7 or above. This will give you access to many of the new features along with public releases that come out every couple months with new updates and fixes. Using these versions, you will be able to develop and publish your apps to market using Starter edition.

Is your computer capable of running OS X 10.7 or 10.8? If so, please consider upgrading at this time, perhaps to 10.8 since I believe 10.9 “Mavericks” is coming out this autumn.

Best regards,

Brent Sorrentino

Thanks a lot Brent.

And sorry for bringing this unrelated topic on victor’s thread.

I should have posted a new thread instead…

 Hi wilychristian:

I hope you solve your problem. I know how to test in my iPad now, with the version I have it’s simple

I can tell you step by step if you need.

let me know

Hi there victor…

Reading your posts above, you have already purchased your Apple Certificate right?

I still need a lot of time before purchasing my own. So i’ll just take my time for now, trying to develop from scratch. Reading about c++, corona, xcode, and then upgrade my OS maybe…

So thanks anyway. When i’m about to publish and find some trouble, i’ll let you know from this thread.

But if you know how to test on device without using apple’s service (certificate, submit to iTunes, etc), i’m all ears hehe :stuck_out_tongue:

I read that it could be done via xcode, but haven’t test it. Think i’ll just save it for laaater…

As far as I know. The only way you can test your app in a real iPad, is paying money to apple, the developers fee.

I paid $99.00 plus taxis (like $106.00) I don’t have a lot of money, but I think you get your money back. I just have sold

like 60 apps, from my first app. I make $1.40 for each, so I almost cover that $106. And believe me, I’m planning to make a lot more than that.

So if you really like this, and you can make an app or maybe 2, it’s more than worth it.

Thanks mate. That’s some information to share.

And i’m working on this.

Wish you the best…
