Why do we not have in app purchase for amazon. more ads monetization for android and ios (the one people want…chartboost, admob) These platforms and Corona have been out for years… This is ridiculous. [import]uid: 1884 topic_id: 31533 reply_id: 141901[/import]
@vopmms, Walter has explained this several times in his posts on Project Gluon.
Please see Walter’s blog post:

@Rob - I saw that post and I do understand what is going on. But here is what we need.
We need inapp purchases and admob, chartboost, etc for all pro users and regular users right now. These are mandatory features that developers can’t live without. These features are free to any open source sdk/api so why do we have to wait years with Corona SDK – a sdk that we are paying for??
In my opinion, people on this forum are too nice. Corona, not cool.
Thanks. [import]uid: 1884 topic_id: 31533 reply_id: 141925[/import]
I agree.
We couldn’t work with game publishers because of these.
(So now we convert our game to cocos2d-x)
Corona had to do something.

I’m completely with Vopmms on this.
Having to wait another year or two for Amazon IAP and other features like Chartboost, TapJoy, and other major SDK’s is a huge issue with Corona.
I really think Corona’s future completely depends on how well plugins are executed. With them third parties can champion these things and bring them to Corona, similar to how Appcellerator has.
I really need the ability to do Amazon IAP, Tapjoy and a few other systems and despite having a three year pro license to Corona will look at Moai or Unity to get it.
[import]uid: 160288 topic_id: 31533 reply_id: 141928[/import]
BTW, Enterprise cost alot of money. I already emailed them about it.
To block developers from monetization options is ridiculous.
All my revenue on iOS (from my own sdk) is from inapp and ads. it breaks down to 20% inapp and 80% ads.
If developers can’t make money then all this is pointless.
Corona people are brilliant engineers and people but obviously they dont’ run a game studio, indie or pro.
Why am I still here? I have one game built with Corona (big mistake) on iOS and Android and I have to support it for my users. I am not making any more games with Corona. Unity is the way to go. [import]uid: 1884 topic_id: 31533 reply_id: 141929[/import]
Agree. Amazon IAP is important. It should be in the top group of priority features.
Chartboost is important, but not as important as Amazon IAP.
We are using Corona now, but may find another option if Amazon IAP isn’t around in a month or two. [import]uid: 201163 topic_id: 31533 reply_id: 141931[/import]
Hey everyone. Thanks for all the comments. Let me say a couple of things here:
-
We do support IAP on iOS and Android and have done so for a long time. So most of our developers are covered there.
-
Yes, we do not yet support IAP on Amazon. That has become much more important in the last few months and I’m with you there. We need to support it and we will very soon. It is on its way.
-
Adding other monetization options, via plugins, is also a priority. While I wish we could just have a functioning plugin framework, hundreds of plugins and everything “just working” overnight, it is impossible. There are a lot of moving parts (both technical and business) and this takes some time. But we will get there.
I know some of you have decided to go to other platforms because of these perceived delays and I’m really sorry about that. We all know that Corona is a great development platform, but we have admittedly lagged on bringing 3rd party options to the table. We will fix that and will hopefully get you back as customers then.

Google Play is a very small market place in comparison to Amazon, the stats I have seen are that Amazon is going at about 89% of Apple’s store and Google Play is about 23%. This is why Amazon is so important.
The lack of being able to integrate this as well as things like TapJoy & Chartboost is a big issue. That’s why I believe Corona future really depends on how well plugins are executed as Corona is smaller (staffwise) than other SDK. [import]uid: 160288 topic_id: 31533 reply_id: 141940[/import]
