Latest daily build crashes OS X simulator: "Corona Simulator quit unexpectedly"

Continued from previous thread

http://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/54898-build-coronasdk-20152571-simulator-crashes/

I need to clarify that the Windows simulator is Crashing NOT … OSX… and only if you run it through a 3rd party application for Debugging like ZeroBrane or Lua Glider.

If I run it standalone it runs fine, but I cant debugg anylonger.

Also after the install - I removed it and tried an ealier version and well - Im screwed - older version will no longer debug either now.

I see you changed your installer process. Instead of just being able to install over top an old version you have to Add remove programs and Reboot - and install the new version - um that really sucks -

----- update

after removing all aspects of previous versions I reinstalled version - CoronaSDK-2015.2562 - and now im back up and working again… I’ll stick with this version for a while longer.

“OSX… and only if you run it through a 3rd party application for Debugging like ZeroBrane or Lua Glider.”

Same here with 2015.2571 using Lua Glider 2

In my case I’m using OSX 10.9.5. The problem happens when I open the Hello World project either from the Corona Simulator or vie Sublime 3 (with the Corona package).

2565: Works fine

2571: Builds and runs correctly the first time. When I close the simulator it crashes. I cannot build again from that point on until I reinstall or reboot.

Crashing for me too. I got the latest daily build this morning (2571) and my project crashes immediately when I run it. Not in an IDE. Just opening Corona directly and choosing my project. I reverted back to 2561 (because i knew it worked) and everything is fine.

This is on a 2011 13" MacBook Air with OSX 10.9.5.

Dave

I’ve reproduced the debugger crash in 2574 and will have a fix soon.

I can’t reproduce the skin changing crash.  Can someone who sees this confirm it happens with Daily Build 2015.2574?

Sorry for the instability, we’re making some major changes under the hood and I obviously need to add some test cases to my smoke test.

The 10.9.5 issue should be fixed in Daily Build 2015.2574 (sorry about the missing notes).

I can’t see any daily build above 2570 on the downloads page. Is this something that is only available to Enterprise users?

You should be able to see this now.

I’m having the same problem with 2015.2611. Regardless of whether I run it on the simulator or an a real device, the app crashes after a few seconds. Below is my environment (as prsented by the Apple crash report).

Has this issue been resolved for everyone else in this thread since the discussion ended?

I am on 2015.2605 and its working fine for me. Worth a try?

@coronarocks: PM me the full crash report (or at least the first couple of hundred lines).  Also, does this happen with a Sample app?  If so, which one?  Be specific even if it seems like all of them to you.  Which is the last Daily Build that works for you?

@Perry: just sent you the Apple crash report as a PM.

I’ve tried several of the sample apps but none of them exhibit the same error. With my app, I have tried some daily builds from 2015.2597 and on but  all of them have the same issue. Before that, I used 2014.2511, which worked fine.

Before I try another daily build, what is the last version that complies with Apples 64-bit requirement. Does 2014-2511?

Also, have you set the date for the next stable release? You mention above that you are doing some major changes under the hood, which might be a reason to provide a stable build as a touch-and-go version when possible?

Thanks!

Build 2015.2545 is the first recommended 64-bit build.

This issue is same as this one.  We’re working on it.

I’m seeing this too. Apps that normally run just fine cause the sim to crash on opening.

Any idea which daily build works okay, so we could possibly revert back?

Cheers

The previous one is fine.

Oopsie … Bad programmer! No biscuit!  I could claim that the Simulator on OS X 10.10 was just fine though my position would be somewhat weakened by my inability to explain why it didn’t crash there too

Fixed in Daily Builds 2015.2571 and later.

Thanks for the reports.

I’m having the same behaviour with 2015.2571. The latest one that’s not crashing for me is 2015.2565.

I just checked 2571 and didn’t get this.
