[NOOK] Walkthru - Deploying on a Test Device and Getting Ready for Store Deployment

@Luciane – Glad to see that the problem wasn’t on your end! Hopefully they fix it soon so you can get your app out there! [import]uid: 57050 topic_id: 24855 reply_id: 126737[/import]

Created the 300 x 300 icon, but when I install onto the Nook Color and do a general search, I get the Corona Icon ?

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,

What are the file names of the icons you’ve created? [import]uid: 57050 topic_id: 24855 reply_id: 127432[/import]

Check the NOOK site to be sure, but the last I read they were all to be 300x300 at diff resolutions, named:

Icon-hdpi.png
Icon-ldpi.png
Icon-mdpi.png
Icon.png [import]uid: 40033 topic_id: 24855 reply_id: 127443[/import]

This is how I have it in all of my apps:

72x72 Icon.png
72x72 Icon-hdpi.png
48x48 Icon-mdpi.png
36x36 Icon-ldpi.png [import]uid: 42083 topic_id: 24855 reply_id: 127444[/import]

You can use Icon Robot Android for free, it will create all the icons needed at least for Android.
I use those mentioned above too and I have 2 approved apps on Nook store.

Thanks all.

@adrianeraldo, what did you name the 300 x 300 icon required by nook ? It doesn’t mention that in the docs I’ve read online. The B&N rep said no particular name was required, which may not be accurate. [import]uid: 31039 topic_id: 24855 reply_id: 127474[/import]

@frankxyz

I named it: Icon300Toy.png to be precise… but I guess it could be anything…

@Pixin

The only thing I read in the docs on their Developer site was that they want a 300 x 300 icon. I didn’t see any docs regarding , Icon-hdpi.png, Icon-ldpi.png, Icon-mdpi.png, Icon.png files. This is what I find confusing.

I am in contact with a B& N rep and will relay what I’m told.

Based upon my Nook Color tests and my discussion with Nook Developer site I have discovered a few interesting items.

During test installs, the Nook uses the icon-mdpi icon. That’s it. Dimensions don’t matter.

I am told the 300 x 300 icon is used when the app is installed in the store.

Also, the ‘Extras’ menu refreshes on its first use, then the unit must be re-booted to show any new changes to the icon. Not so when doing a general search. [import]uid: 31039 topic_id: 24855 reply_id: 127992[/import]

Since a Corona staff person posted that you have to have Corona Pro to test on Kindle and Nook devices, I have to believe it was true in 2012. Is it true NOW in 2014?  I tested on both devices last year, but am having problems with a new app.
