Can you show more of your code? Is the fish a transparent png?
Here is all the code this is all i have because this has been holding me up Local backround = display.newImage(“backround.PNG”) Local fish = display.newImage(“fish.PNG”)
The fish and the water are just test pictures thay are just thing i put together in paint
So is the fish transparent? Or does it have a white background? Obviously if the fish doesn’t have a transparent background then it will obscure the background image.
Also, it should be local, not Local.
It has a white backround and i had it at on cap locks for some reason
Well there’s your problem. You are covering up the background with the fish image. You need to crop the fish image and/or make it transparent

Think about transparency and image layer ordering like this. Take out a sheet of paper and draw a stick man on it. Now take out another piece of paper and draw a fish on it. Put the fish on top of the man. Can you see the man? No, the fish layer is covering it up. Now take scissors and make the paper smaller, but still a rectangle. Put the fish on top of the man. You may not see the man, but you can see the bottom sheet of paper because the fish paper is smaller. This is life without transparency.
If your fish image had transparency like a transparent background instead of a white one, that would be like using your scissors and trimming the paper neatly around the fish where it’s no longer rectangle but the shape of the fish. Now you can likely see some of the man.
Internally to the computer, the fish is still a rectangle, but you can see through the rectangle to the lower layer.
