Play Video on Android

We are february 2013 and the Android video player is still so bad… It’s hard to lunch the video to be played with the exact video player(default) from the Android OS?

Thanks,

What don’t you like about it?

The video player currently works just like how it does on iOS, except that it suspends the Corona activity which is the default Android behavior when displaying windows/activities. [import]uid: 32256 topic_id: 3608 reply_id: 144298[/import]

Does the new native video feature work on the Android now? [import]uid: 8780 topic_id: 3608 reply_id: 144314[/import]

No. Android does not support the [lua]native.newVideo()[/lua] API yet.
It’s low on our priority list at the moment. [import]uid: 32256 topic_id: 3608 reply_id: 144359[/import]

Hi Joshua. I am working at a project with Corona and some of the gaps that i saw at the video player for Android are:

  • The screen stays black for about 5 seconds before the actual video is displayed. We can’t display a loading graphic or anything.

  • It seems like i can’t display a video in absolute full screen mode, i can still see some black areas on the sides when the app is in landscape mode

Thanks,
