Simple Scanner problem - endless scanning

Here’s what helps me avoid the SSS problem:

  • Only open one project at a time
  • Don’t leave glider open for more than 8 hours

Usually I’m not seeing the issue now unless I do one of these two things.

All heavyweight IDEs have issues and Lua Glider has been no exception.

The scanner problem is a bit more than a normal issue but I’m sure they’ll come up with a solution.
Please keep emailing the devs directly and uploading your logs from glider so they can get more details.

I haven’t heard from MY from a while… My co-founder already changed his IDE… I am still using but don’t know for how long…

In addition to @bdg information, I found that the problem usually happens after I put my MAC to sleep.

But with all respect @bdg, an IDE that I cannot work for more than 8 directly or I can only 1 project opened it is something that is not very useful… And the previous version (v1.7) didn’t show any of these problems.

Besides the SSS problem, I am now noticing that not every error is being showed at the Ouput console ("Simulator). Sometimes I have a code error (like a ‘}’ missing) and the output console does not show any error, I need to look for the error in the “Glider IDE Log”.

Hello All,

Rest assured there will be an update by this weekend with a reworked concurrency model for the scanning that should fix these deadlock issues. We will be aggressively trying to fix this problem in the upcoming week. Thank you for your patience on this matter.

I’m having the same issue.  I see that there are updates available, but the updates aren’t getting applied.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled hoping that the updated version would come with a new initial download.  That didn’t work either.  Is there a way to update from the command line?  I have uploaded my logs.

Thanks,

Todd

Hey M.Y. Developers,

Any word on this update? I opened the Glider IDE and was told that there aren’t any new updates currently.

Cheers,

Rich

Hello All,

Please see the last post on:

http://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/41123-when-it-will-be-released-a-new-version-of-glider/

This update should be able to fix the scanner bug but we need someone who is experiencing the problem to confirm it before we release the patch to the general user base.

Same problem here, specially when running the Glider on Windows, making the computer to get so slow due to its use of CPU. I also noticed that if the Glider is open and I sleep the computer, when it wakes up, the Glider gets stuck in this endless running.

Do you guys from MY have any outlook in a new update? We need a update focused on performance, not in more features.

Thanks,

Renato

Ok great thanks.  I will give this a try.

Cheers,

Rich

Hi Rich,

We just released an update. You will need to re-download and reinstall to get the update however. The problem should be fixed in this version. Please get the installer from our website:

Hey

To be honest, I haven’t had the scanner problem since installing the last update. What problem does this new update fix?

Rich

Hello Rich,

The update is primarily aimed at those who are having issues so if all is good for you then there should not be any real reason to update. There are a few extra features but to be honest this is a maintenance update. Once everything settles down we are going to push for Glider 2.0 soon.

M.Y. Developers

Great  I can’t wait for that.

Cheers guys,

Rich

Hi Devs,

Any update on this? This problem still exists…

Thanks,

Danz

Hi All,

I’m also chasing an update. Only bought the IDE last week, all good at first apart from the scanner issue locking, but causing no great shakes.

Now, however, the whole thing is bringing my machine to a grinding halt. Having to periodically go back to TextWrangler at the moment.

It feels like it’s 99% of the way there and I love it apart from these issues…

Give us hope devs!

Thanks,

Gary.
