Stranded, the game - Work in Progress

Do you have a folio website?

Hey Jared,

Nope, no folio website. No time to do so either, since this is a hobby project! My day job is working at a design studio that I co-founded, and we do have a site here: http://www.pinkeye.be

Yesterday’s addition to the art:

Jealous of those skills man!

Slooooooooooooowly getting there - here’s some more stuff!

And some terrain - I’ve got a couple of this type of rocks to make the main landscape.

Your stuff looks really good man. I’d love to see some comps all mocked up.

The working alone thing… Yeah… It’s quite painful. I’ve been doing it for about the same amount of time… full time making a game myself. It’s hard work and the journey has had it’s ups and downs emotionally. Thankfully the end it in site for me. For you, keep it up… It’s showing tons of promise.

Oh, and did you do all the programming also? How’d that get done?

Cheers.

Hey Gullie667,

Thanks for the positive feedback! Sure helps to stay motivated! The programming went along swimmingly to be honest - I enjoy doing that stuff  I actually have the game mechanics completely done, including a complete and fully functioning level editor that supports on the fly editing of the whole level including tiles, several layers of background elements, enemies, objects, saving, loading, FTP support etc… I want to design my levels on the device so I can get the feel just right while playing my level. Somehow I don’t believe in designing something om my Mac or PC in a level editor, getting the stuff in my game and playing it, then feeling it’s not working as it should feel because a platform is just a bit too high or far and needing to go back to the level editor on my desktop.

When all the graphics are done, I’ll be able to take my iPad with me and design my levels on the train or from my couch - and potentially open up the level editor to everyone later on after I polish the interface a bit.

The frustrating things is that I have everything ready to start game design: I have the level editor and my game mechanics, but it’s just an empty box as long as I don’t have all the graphics done. The anticipation is killing me!!!

I’m going to try and record some video from my iPad to show you the level editor!

Cheers,

Thomas

Delectable artwork!

Thanks guys! I’ll make sure to keep you up to date on new artwork - and I just re-rendered that polar bear at super-high resolution to make some prints and a wallpaper, which I’ll be sharing here (as soon as I find the time to do the Photoshop work). Thanks again!!!
