Both the effects are amazingly beautiful.
Are they cell animations or particles? The waterfall seems like cell animation, but then it could also be that from the GIF you might have created to show us the same.

The waterfall was taken from a video I shot at a National Park in upstate New York. I pulled out 5 frames and painted over them in Photoshop so they would loop fairly seamlessly.
The water reflection effect was done using some cool old Windows freeware called Sqirlz: http://www.xiberpix.net/SqirlzReflect.html
Like the waterfall, I then painted over them in Photoshop so they would be cohesive with the rest of the scene.
The rain, snow, and sparkle effects were all created using Particle Candy for Corona, which I cannot recommend more highly: http://www.x-pressive.com/ParticleCandy_Corona/index.html

Yeah, it definitely takes time!

The Lost City is currently available on the Android Marketplace and the Amazon Marketplace.
It is still under review for the Kindle Fire and the Nook Color/Tablet.
