Video Capture for App Demos

MauMau and I answer the same question, I answer “No” and he(?) answers “Yes” – the answer’s the same but the Yes is a much more positive way to answer. MauMau for the win!

I use iShowUHD, but once you get your capture working try this out.

It replaces the mouse with a photo of a hand lots of options for sizing, and you can add your own artwork.
I made a custom “Santa” hand for my ihandbells app demo if anyone wants a copy I’ll gladly post it.

I use iShowU and it works great. I’m sure other options work good too though. [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 4058 reply_id: 13664[/import]

What are people using to edit and export? I used iMovie which washed out the colours on export. [import]uid: 68937 topic_id: 4058 reply_id: 48198[/import]

Sorry i’m bringing this post back, but i need to know if any of these sots have an HD recording option… [import]uid: 105206 topic_id: 4058 reply_id: 90471[/import]

nml, not sure what you mean by HD option… I think the best you could do is record at the resolution of your device…

We ended up using ScreenFlow (after all the recommendations here) and iMovie for editing/export. After having some experience with Final Cut Pro, iMovie can be frustrating in its limitations. But it’s been so long since I used FCP that I didn’t want to start on the learning curve again.

As an alternative for using the Corona simulator to capture video from, I just heard about a Mac program, Reflections, that lets your Mac receive mirrored video from your iPad 2 or iPhone 4s. Tried the free demo and it looked pretty good. I don’t know if my old laptop would be able to both run Reflections and ScreenFlow at full frame rates, but my wife’s new Macbook Air should be able to handle it.
