Vote Roadmap? Give us the Needs then the Wants.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but I’d like the ability to submit my apps to the Mac App Store!

@Carlos, give me a sign, like a smily face or something

I just wanted to register my opinion here along with many other comments regarding request for native iOS UI controls and specifically the one from bedhouin:

"We could make some fiercely competitive applications for corporate clients if only we had access to more UI interface features easily.

Corona is a great piece of kit and I love using it, but is sadly deficient when it comes to UI and Network Access. And screen/state management is harder than it needs t be.

That’s my two cents…

edit: You have a “Game Edition” - I would pay double for a version of “Enterprise Edition” with native UI elements, screen management, and better network access."

I totally agree and there a lot of app ideas I have that while not ‘games’ certainly are still ‘entertainment’ and would be greatly aided in development by having native UI controls.

EDIT: Yes, like someone else said, compatibility with Mac Store would be AWESOME! [import]uid: 9189 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 15882[/import]

@mjohnsono121 I completely agree. Native UI controls are essential and people are so used to it by now that they need little or no explanation or training to use. Also network access.

+1 for these basic features [import]uid: 8192 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 15910[/import]

Ah, good thread. As I’m to decide wether or not we use Corona for multidevice development for many apps I digged into corona and lua the last few weeks and discovered some heavily needed features for our needs:

NEEDS

  1. Masking
  2. Native Controls (Scrollcontainer with clipping, Dropdown etc)
  3. XML-Support (E4X?)
  4. Image Manipulation (Tint, Hue, Saturation, Brightness etc)
  5. In-App Purchase

WANTS

  1. WP7 Support
  2. Windows Version of Corona

[import]uid: 12870 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16253[/import]

In-App Purchase - next release in about two weeks.

Did anyone catch my last tweet?

Carlos [import]uid: 24 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16296[/import]

Why are you implementing that? It’s the last thing anyone is requesting. We don’t need that!

We need

makeTheIphoneFly()

[import]uid: 8192 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16297[/import]

Who want’s a flying iPhone…?

I vote for:

[lua]makeGame( { iTuneRank=1, revenue=1000000, target={“iPhone”, “iPad” } } )[/lua]

Include that into your next build and you will sell loads of dev subscriptions Carlos.

[EDIT]@amigoni: Come to think of it; I’ve made my iPhone fly before that was easy, what we actually need is
[lua]makeiPhoneLand( {gravity=0.1, easeOut=true} )[/lua] [import]uid: 11393 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16304[/import]

LOL. Very True.

Thanks Carlos looking forward to this very much.

Carlos, so mid-Jan is out of the door? I was really hoping for something to look at for this weekend. Still, progress being made is always great! Will look forward to an end of month release then. Keep up the great work! [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16329[/import]

Remember, these are “engineers” schedule. Mid January really means end of March.

:stuck_out_tongue:

C

… waiting for onslaught… [import]uid: 24 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16334[/import]

Wow! Awesome in App-Purchase! This takes me one step further to finishing my game!

Next:

iTunes Library Support!

(Also publishing for OSX would be nice) [import]uid: 8517 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16340[/import]

Carlos, engineers schedule is always better than the marketing schedule… Question I have is which box to put you in… Haven’t figured out yet! [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16352[/import]

Still looking forward to more UI controls, masking and universal binaries! [import]uid: 8271 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16358[/import]

@ksan I sorta agree - but I’m leaning toward ‘good engineer’ type.

Carlos, could you clarify what “Add “2.5d” image transforms” will involve please?

Thanks,

Matt [import]uid: 8271 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16360[/import]

So what happened to the announcement that a release would happen in a few days, a few days ago?

I still would like to see some form of voting system for new features.

I see a lot of posts requesting more native UI controls and masking and other image manipulations, blending etc. But the roadmap remains unchanged.

Hi,

As this thread is pretty popular and devs all around seem to want a great many things (myself included!) I’ve created a poll to gauge our opinions on what we’re looking for. Just thought it would be a bit of fun and informative.

Disclaimer: I do not work for Ansca, this is not an official poll and I am not affiliated with them other than being a subscriber.

Anyway, as this is just a watermark sort of thing, I’ve put in what I could find from this thread and tried to keep it to New Functionality, not alterations or bug fixes. While some of the requested features straddle that line, the items in this survey are wholly new features which are fairly self-contained.

Matt.

Voted. How to do you see the results? [import]uid: 8192 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16372[/import]

Great proactive move! Thank you very much! Power to the masses and all that good stuff. Voting now. May I suggest adding another option like “I don’t know what it is” or “N/A” [import]uid: 11904 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16373[/import]

I’ve mentioned these things elsewhere on the forum, so I didn’t think it necessary to bring them up here. But since we have a poll up:

  • Bitmap pixel access
  • Filters (not as necessary if pixel access is available): tint, glow, blur
  • Rendering to an image
  • Access to native code (“take this java code if we’re on android for this function, and this objective C code if we’re on iPhone”) [import]uid: 8145 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16374[/import]

I’d also like to separately mention that I’d really, really like this to be fixed:

http://developer.anscamobile.com/forum/2010/06/15/huge-problem-font-positioning-between-simulator-and-device

I’m having a very painful time debugging label placement (considering ~15 minutes to see if I’ve changed the placement correctly). I just found that post before writing this comment though, maybe I’ll settle for the workaround in that post if it works for me.

P.S. if anyone else who has experienced this problem is willing to share their workaround solution, I’d be very appreciative  [import]uid: 8145 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16377[/import]
