Vote Roadmap? Give us the Needs then the Wants.

P.S. if anyone else who has experienced this problem is willing to share their workaround solution, I’d be very appreciative

I’ve been experiencing this problem but hadn’t seen that thread, thanks. [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16585[/import]

As I have just published an iPad App, my next project will be to port my Corona code to an Android tablet. Right now, the Motorola XOOM looks real good.

For that and most all Android Tablets I (we) need specific support for Android 3.0 Honeycomb, including an emulator.

When you get a minute…

After what Carlos let slip is coming in the next update, GameCenter is the most pressing feature we need.

Hardcore users (i.e. your early adopter that can spread the word about your game) won’t even consider a game without GameCenter integration and retina graphics.

No one cares about OpenFeint even if it does mostly the same (don’t ask me why, it’s just the way it is).

Then iAds and a way to add other ad providers. Corona is absolutely great for building games, but for the monetization not so much yet. This is also critical for Android, since no one buys apps over there.

What would be really nice though would be the ability to add that stuff on our own in the meantime using Obj C, like you can in Unity3D, while Ansca comes up with the proper way to do it for everyone else.

This would also open up the possibility to add support for In App Cross Promotion networks like Flurry’s App Circle, Playforge or The Kinetik. Which again would make it easier to monetize our games.

From the development side I’m mostly good after what’s coming in the next update. Now let’s focus on the monetization aspects so we can recoup that subscription money (and be able to sign up again for next year). [import]uid: 10835 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16595[/import]

Yes, I have to agree. While there are, of course, features that as technically interested developers we would all like to play with, as businesses monetization (or ease of) has to come first. OpenFeint may have a great following, but they do know they are under serious threat, at least on iOS.

I also believe that users do not wish to pay for the same app twice, making Universal Builds important. This will become even more important when users start really downloading games etc from the Mac Store. I’ve now paid something like 4 times for Angry Birds. At the moment it is a very rewarding game, but if there are not the differences (differing level designs, higher quality graphics, etc) - such as individual developers cannot provide due to the time required - a single charge for a single app which plays anywhere is necessary, not just preferable.

I wonder if iOS games will ever sell through the Mac Store, though.

I wonder if iOS games will ever sell through the Mac Store, though.

Why would they? The Mac Store is iTunes for OSX software; iOS software already has iTunes. [import]uid: 12108 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16612[/import]

@jstrahan first and foremost, hope that everything is ok by now with your hospital situation. And, we take care of everything for you during the build process. [import]uid: 24 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16626[/import]

@ Carlos
yes we have it under control now just a lot of trips back to the hospital ( every other week ) for checkups
thanks for the response im send you an email [import]uid: 7911 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16629[/import]

I just think it would be awesome to be able to sell one piece which works throughout. Could raise a lot of complications however. Though, regular iOS apps which run in an iOS sandbox on Mac would be great. It seemed like the Back To The Mac event was pushing in this direction, to me.

bluetooth easy.
How else do you implement ihpone\ipad programs that are suppose to communicate [import]uid: 13473 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16671[/import]

@saber Just wondering if you’ve posted in the wrong thread - I was talking about running apps using a single binary on both mac and iOS (however wise), rather than communicating between apps.

Ps: I saw your other post on bluetooth tho. [import]uid: 8271 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16672[/import]

  1. an app viewer for device so code wouldnt need to be uploaded for testing on device
    • There’s no need for XML support. There exists lua XML file that help you do that.
  • Fix Android speed issue
  • Fix Android physics issue
  • Elastic Collision Threshold Setting in Box2D
  1. Mybe other platforms like: Bada and Symbian,
    and Browser plug-in ?
    in-app ads
  2. RIM/Blackberry
  3. iAds! If it were available now, we won’t be talking anymore about Bubble Ball’s popularity, we’d be talking about it’s profits!
  4. Keep up the great work - really enjoy using Corona!
  5. * video display objects -play video clips within (clipped portion of) corona rendering winddow rather than native
    * ability to separate graphics from physics (eg physical objects with no display item)
    * stable (buffered) audio engine (Event.SAMPLE_DATA in AS3)
    * bitmap/color fills
    * eval() - (string to variable etc)
    * #include (for compile time include, not realtime)
  6. iAds!
  7. I’d give up everything else for Native Code Access as it would allow nearly everything else.
If I couldn’t have Native Code Access, I would add backgrounding, specifically for GPS. My Epic Biking app would be much better with that support.
  8. iAds - Apples version
  9. Speech synthesis A.S.A.P., voice recognition in future. Why? I believe that games for these small devices shouldn’t be copies of screen based games only, but also more rich applications, moving games more to physical space. It’s happening with GPS, compass, gyroscopes etc… It would be fun to run in streets and to have audio interfaces.

Sound playback speed control.
12. Good list, I think OAuth support would be easy if you just had Async HTTP. Game Center, Bluetooth, IAP, Push Notifications, Native UI? would be fairly easy to integrate myself w/ native access.
13. Class Instances of some type as an API? I think spawning objects and the use of tables and inheritance is the the hardest thing for most code illiterate to comprehend, especially those coming from GS. interruptible timers and transitions.
14. OpenFeint on Android
15. 3d support
16. I know I’ve already rated it highly, but more opportunities to earn $ (i.e. a build for MacOS and the new Mac app store) is very compelling to me.
17. Windows dev environment, then my friend can use it and I can rope him into doing some coding
18. Photoshop Corona exporter
Audio effects & filters
Officially supported and specifically targeted Corona dev environment
Be able to tell the current device capabilities ie. Screen size
19. Please, please, PLEASE: allow me to render on secondary display. I’m working on apps for class room use, and this is a MUST HAVE feature for that segment.
20. A legitimate twitter library.

Sprite autoscaling

Curved surface physics objects
21. SSL - Needed!
22. Blend modes on images (multiplicative, additive, subtractive, etc)
23. I like the makeItFly() function
24. Some sort of multitasking solution for iOS. At least to where the app doesn’t reset itself.

More in-depth font support. Some fonts that work in iOS do not appear to display in Android.
25. Access native code and native controls
26. Event/Timer management.
27. Multiplayer support for GameCenter, not just achievements and leaderboards. Openfeint multiplayer
28. Thanks for initiative (f2cx)
29. Access to oher APIs calls like phone usage etc

@horacebury

Oh, i didn’t comment on your post. I was more interested in “voting” for blue-tooth support. [import]uid: 13473 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16756[/import]

It would be wonderful to have OpenFeint Multiplayer! [import]uid: 10507 topic_id: 4142 reply_id: 16906[/import]

5. iAds! If it were available now, we won't be talking anymore about Bubble Ball's popularity, we'd be talking about it's profits!
8. iAds!
10. iAds - Apples version

Can I vote all of these up to number 1?

Second, I’d say improved debugging support or tutorials on how to set up a GUI debugger to work with your CLI one. This for me, is pretty critical - in terms of learning a language, nothing helps like being able to read the objects and step through.

Next, improved asset management - from what I’m told in other threads, there are some problems with putting LUA assets in subfolders. I’m not sure if that’s true, or if I just don’t know the correct syntax yet. But that would be helpful.

This is a significantly lower priority - and in fact, I might get yelled at as a phillistine here… but a “scene builder” would be nice. Drag and drop my assets onto the stage, have their placements created in a table automatically. Export the setup file into “.\assets\levels\level_x.lua” … from what I can tell … once I get through with the engine, the *real* work starts when I have to manually position all of the assets in order to build the levels. (right?)
