Which Mac to buy

Adrian,
I can perfectly understand where you are coming from. I have been there at that crossroad once. an Apple device was not what I needed, and I would not suggest that you spend on one if you do not need one.

However all I am trying to say is that if you do buy one, get one that will last you for a while, something that is value for money than buy and then buy again in 3 months.

I do not suggest going for a Hackintosh, however, in the UK you will find a few folks that have a decent Mac and are closer to your location. You can get them to compile the app for you using a Mac and your Apple Certificates. That way, you can get an app made and it will have cost you anything from *nothing* to a small fee.

How often are you going to compile an app and upload to iTunes? So maybe just getting the services of a friend or someone in the neighborhood would be a better and more practical option.

cheers,

Hi Ewing - just to let you know I am about to buy a machine on ebay with the following description -

Macmini4,1
Intel Core 2 Duo

1.07GHz Bus speed
2Gb (2 x 1Gb DDR3 1067MHz)
NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256Mb
320Gb sata
BT and Airport
Mid 2010

  • should this be OK? [import]uid: 83824 topic_id: 17259 reply_id: 65400[/import]

Yes, I think this is an excellent machine. [import]uid: 7563 topic_id: 17259 reply_id: 65401[/import]

I have 2 Macbook(latest model) and 2 Macbook Pro(latest model) and
if you have a nice budget Id recommend you a Macbook Pro (latest model) I have 15 inch ( the 13 inch is cheaper and the 17 inch is a little more) mine cost 2k USD. If you dont want to spend too much Macbook(white, 1k USD)
is a great machine but both of mine already broke down few times and have
been repair at apple store (Warranty) but if its just to build not to work on
then the one you suggested above from ebay is good enough! [import]uid: 30314 topic_id: 17259 reply_id: 65403[/import]

JayantV - that is a great idea. I have several friends who swear by their Macs so maybe I could use their systems. I was thinking that when I got a Mac (if I now get one) I would move my Corona development over to it.
Thanks again
