Ok I use Glider as my IDE and have been using it for a long time now. I love Glider and have gotten used to working with it and currently use v 1.7. I have a retina Macbook Pro and 1.7 looks great in that resolution, text is crisp and perfect. I have downloaded 1.9 and installed, but it looks like the whole UI is not retina ready as all the text and code looks blurry like its not at the correct resolution. Is there a setting somewhere I need to change? Did it not install correctly(I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but same issue occurs). Please let me know what I can do to fix this, I have been waiting for the 1.9 release for a minute now and would like to love 1.9 like I did 1.7 and below.
Hello Chevol,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we had no way of testing this (no retina mac here.)
You will need to add these command line arguments to the default options of the conf file.
-J-Dapple.laf.useScreenMenuBar=true -J-Dapple.awt.graphics.UseQuartz=true -J-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -J-Dsun.java2d.dpiaware=true -J-Dsun.zip.disableMemoryMapping=true -J-Dsun.awt.disableMixing=true
Please see the following image for more information

Let us know if that works, the “dpiaware=true” option looks promising.

I have the same problem and can’t find the directories or the config file on my mac at all. Is there a chance you will bring out an update soon including a retina fix maybe?

Daniela
doesn’t work for me. I followed the instructions and modified the conf file.

Hello Everyone,
We are putting together an app package that may fix the problem ( we have really no way of knowing ) so we will need confirmation from you all before we feel confident it actually fixes the issue. We tried adding the command line switches and added stuff to the plist file that should work. We will update this thread when it is ready.

Good news! Hopefully it fixes the issue, I’m stuck on 1.7 until then
sounds good - happy to test it when it’s ready!!
Hello Everyone,
Please redownload the dmg installer and see if our changes fixed the retina text issue. Note that you cannot just update (via help-> plugins) as we changed the command line arguments and plist bundle.
For your convenience the link is below:

Note, according to some sources you may have to log out and back in to force Mac to update the application cache, not sure if this helps but if it does not work the first time around please try that as well.

I installed the new version and restarted the system. It’s still not working.
installed and selected the option to replace the existing installation.
Made no difference, even after a restart. fyi - noticed that the version number is still the same
some differences - the “Open in Low Resolution” checkbox is no longer grayed out/ locked to on. It is now not selected, nor can i enable it
Hello Everyone,
Sorry about this. If we knew about the retina issue we would have reconsidered the switch to Oracle’s Java 1.7. Supposedly it is already fixed in the Java 1.8 dev builds and it will be back-ported to java 7 once it it stable enough. Unfortunately we will have to wait until then. Glider 1.7 will still use Apple’s Java 6 so it should look crisp on retina displays. They should get it back-ported soon because 1.8 is due to be released in a few months.
