After reading this http://developer.anscamobile.com/sites/default/files/FlashliteToCorona.pdf (although it’s outdated) I saw a “3D support” on the “Wish List” section. Are we going to have that? [import]uid: 44110 topic_id: 27461 reply_id: 327461[/import]
@emerson1234567890
it means we can make 3D games in the future.?

This is not something we are looking to implement - the PDF you linked to was Evan’s presentation and his own wishlist for Corona. [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 27461 reply_id: 111634[/import]
If you want 3D use Unity, it would be much faster and easier than Corona.

+1 for Unity for 3D
It is for 3D what Corona is for 2D and well worth a look for your 3D apps [import]uid: 52491 topic_id: 27461 reply_id: 111912[/import]
@NinjaPig,
Agreed on using Unity for 3D… but to say it’s “easier” isn’t accurate. Unity is amazing IF you are skilled (or willing to learn) all of the complexities of the 3D game world, 3D game physics, and 3D modeling software like Maya. I once considered embarking down that path until I realized the truth behind the beauty. If you have a team and months of effort to pour into it, or if you have trained in the 3D world/modeling in university or elsewhere, then Unity is amazing! It just takes a very special and very dedicated person (more likely a team) to go down this road.
A lot of the “rest of us” sensibly use Corona.

What I mean by faster is speed wise. Lets face it, Corona is slow even for 2D games. Unity 3D is fast and supports very fast microprocessing. If you want a 3D game you should use Unity, plus even if Corona supported it, you would still have to make 3D models. Honestly, the time if would take to learn Maya and Corona would probably be the same amount of time that it would take to learn Maya and Unity.

Currently learning C/C++ for Unity, so far so good…
I always use Google Sketchup for 3D models and Autodesk FBX converter to use the models in Unity3D. [import]uid: 44110 topic_id: 27461 reply_id: 112031[/import]
Well, you do not need C/C++ but C#, which is easier because you have such a powerful tool like Unity doing all the grunt job for you. 2D Corona SDK + 3D Unity is such a lovely combination, but the latter is much more difficult to master. [import]uid: 67641 topic_id: 27461 reply_id: 113647[/import]
