A few questions from a newblet...

I have read the licensing and watched a few videos on this product. I have started reading the documentation.

But I am still left with a few questions.

  1. The free development kit “can” or “can not” be used to develop an app that will be sold?
    – I read it as you can sell the app, just not on the Market Place, and it will have limited features.

  2. The free development kit does not include particle effects?
    – I think I just read that it does not… That is what I was after too.

  3. With the Windows Kit I can develop iOS applications, but can I load them to an iPhone to test or only the simulator?
    – I do not have an iPhone nor a Pod anymore. Straight Android.

  4. Android requires post tweaking after you create your application? Or only in some situations?
    – Maybe I am just tired and the words all ran together in that read.
    A little about me:
I am not scared of LUA ( I am afraid to mention that I used it for World of Warcraft Interfaces LoL ). I was a C/C++ guy that went ecstatic when he learned Python. Coding harder is not always smarter, just depends on your needs. I have always been a bit blah about Java and it’ position as a necessary evil.

So basically I hope to find a great product to use as a basis for my growing ideas.

Thank you for any answers. I hope this can be my perfect tool for cross platforming. [import]uid: 54798 topic_id: 9231 reply_id: 309231[/import]

  1. Pretty sure you cannot build for distribution without a license
  2. It does not, there is a third party extension called Particle Candy which provides this functionality (at a price), and I’m working on an opensource ‘free’ basic particle engine (theres a link to my progress in the new user forums)
  3. Only the sim, you need access to a mac to build for ios. AFAIK only airplay sdk builds for iOS from windows, its a hardcore c++ engine which might interest you, but as you said, coding harder is not always smarter. Corona is so damned easy once you get your head around the fact its scripted, and not realtime.
  4. Results may vary, Android support is out of beta as of the last week or so, but I’m nowhere near build ready (I have time to spend coding around 3 hrs a week :P)

I’m a noob tho, these are my uneducated guess answers, but I know what its like waiting for the pro’s to respond  [import]uid: 34945 topic_id: 9231 reply_id: 33691[/import]
