A little overwhelmed...

Hi all!

I’ve been interacting with the forums a little here and there, but as of Tuesday night I finally decided to download corona and at least attempt a few things.

First off, I absolutely know ZILCH about programming, of any sort. So I downloaded Sublime with the Corona Editor plugin thingy, downloaded corona, and went to the Corona University.

The first tutorial, “Corona in 5 minutes” was a blast (although it took me 25 mins, lol). I felt pretty empowered. However, I kinda fell off that empowerment wagon relatively quickly. I’ve read through that list getting down to the “Images, Audio, Video, and Animation” section. But a bunch of the tutorials feel above my head.

I’m a GREAT learner when it’s hands on. However when it’s not, I’m terrible at absorbing information.

Any suggested tutorials for me? Reading a 10lb book would probably kill me drive right now to learn this (I’m on a full class schedule at college so I already read plenty of dry material as is). I really enjoy the hands on stuff. I’m contemplating going to YouTube to see what beginner game tutorials they have (for Corona of course). I’ve been looking at all of the stuff in here and just the front page posts are all above my head.

If you could throw me some suggestions that fit my skill level and hands-on approach, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Right now, my goal is to create a really rough top down RPG with touch-drag character controls (think momentum scrolling) and a rock paper scissors battle with another character. No menus, just some area to run around in to use the controls and a single opponent to run into and fight. I have no idea why I’m telling you this, but maybe a specific tutorial will pop up that you may think is useful. Anywho!

I appreciate whatever you throw my way, loving the community here :)
