Hi all,
I made my first game, Tribbs with xcode and Apple’s SDK. It was a pain in the butt, yet manageable. After Tribbs, I made Pico using gamesalad and was impressed with how quickly I was able to execute it, yet dismayed with the lame performance and the lack of arrays (you try ‘coding’ a mastermind-like game with no arrays and only if-then behaviors). I think i’m going to pull the trigger and defect to Corona. My next game will be a sort of physics puzzler, and I need to handle many, many independently moving actors at the same time. Gamesalad would crap out at about 50, but my understanding is that Corona could handle quite a few more (think hundreds of bubbles moving and eating each other). Is this a correct assumption?
Also, there were some things I really like about gamesalad. One was the Collide and bounce behavior. Is there a code repository for Corona equivalents? Could someone point me in the right direction to get started?
Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say Hi. I’ll be diving into my first Corona project this weekend, so expect to see many more questions from me in the future.
Evan
