I’ve asked other questions about vmware… I can build the file in Corona on vmware but will it be acceptable for Apple? IE: has anybody on here built/published to the app store using vmware?
there are lots of forum posts about using vmware, but none that actually say it worked for Apple

Yes, it’s possible to build Corona apps using VMWare, and run them on your devices.
You’ll need a valid Apple Developer account, certificate and provisioning.
Corona SDK, uses OpenGL so do your homework on combinations of VMWare / OS X that will work. For example, I’ve seen VMWare Workstation 9 & 10 working happily with OS X 10.8.x. I’m sure there’ll be people on here using OS X 10.9.x Mavericks too.
