I need this too because I plan to identify devices and associate data from an online source to them.
Currently I create my own secret id when the app is installed and started the first time. But this makes it impossible to identify the device for reinstalls and creates problems for development as new beta versions create new identifies for all my testers

I’ll third this because I’ve got an upcoming project which will be using UDID to tie a phone to a web account.
