Ad issues and are others having them

HI folks,

I am getting so dang frustrated with ads. Early on when using inMobi things were great. Fill rates were in the 90%s and each day it it was generating $40-$60 in revenue with weekends pulling in more and spikes going over $120 a day.

Then somewhere around the end of october fill rates went way down. Dropping down to 50%-70%. In testing I had ads not come up and if one did it sat at the same ad for as long as you could tolerate to look at it. I notified inMobi and Ansca and I was informed something was not working right with an update.

Fill rates never got back up to the 90%s. They did seem to improve at one point, but now they tanked again recently. Some days it does not even get 20% fill rates. I am talking the iOS version. Android numbers are all over the board from day 1.

So I get excited about Inneractive and release an update to switch over and see how it goes. Three weeks of fill rates in the high 80%s-90%s. The game is getting 500-1000 downloads a day and 70,000 people have gotten the update. All seems well except for one thing…Revenue is awful. It has made over $10 one day and the rest of the days are around $5-$6. Inmobi is getting 20% fill rates and brings in 3-5 times the money a day that Inneractive is. Inmobi numbers have gone way down because the Inneractive version has been out for 3 weeks. That was expected, but what was not expected was that Inneractive would not go up. Once the Inneractive version went live I expected the numbers to gradually climb. That has not happened.

I looked back at our inMobi numbers to see if it took a good bit of time to build up. It really did not. We started inMobi in the middle of August and it made $800 by the end of August. A typical month on inMobi is about $1200-$1500 and the first month on Inneractive is not going to make $100. I’ve discussed this with Orly and she said it must have to do with the locations and that ads pay more in certain locations. Whatever it is, Inneractive has leveled off to about $5 a day and Inmobi was steady at going $30 or over everyday and now makes about $15 a day even with the reduced footprint.

It is all very frustrating. On my testing devices ads do not work well at all with Inmobi and it obviously must work for others. Inneractive has the fill rates but is not making near the revenue as the hobbled inMobi.

Anyone else experiencing this or have some kind of solution? It seems to me inMobi and Inneractive both are having some issues with the Corona SDK. [import]uid: 8533 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 320843[/import]

I have the same opinion as you even being very far from you regarding money numbers and downloads numbers also. BUT as am seeing, my Inneractives fill rate is about 80% (it would be better IMO), anyway, lets say that it is OK by now. BUT my principal problem (as I see it) is that even having many clicks on my Inneractive`s Ads, looks like all of them has the same value = $0,01c and nothing else. :\

So if I plan to buy a Macdonalds with my Ads revenue, maybe after 2 years I`ll get it. BTW I do not like to think this and my hope is that as Corona team always says: “Help us to monetize more or at least better than 0.01c” :slight_smile:

That’s very interesting. I am currently using InMobi and it’s going okay for me. I would think that Interactive would pay more due to their algorithm that searches for ad’s with the highest CPC. That’s really unfortunate that you haven’t had much success.

@Jordan,

After your input here I think I should be looking for the inMobi Ads.

PS: Does inMobi works nice over Androids?

Yeah InMobi works good. I’ve had a few problems with ad’s loading very slow, but their payout seems to be good. I’m not sure who to go with. I think In-App Purchases are the way to go though.

@Jordan - Thanks one more time. If inMobi does work easy way on Android Ill go for it right now as I am getting it impossible to add a new Ads on my Inneractives dashboard (as I posted few hours ago under the Inneractive`s forum as well) and after these insights here, why not give inMobi a chance? Would be it worse than 0.01c per click? lol I do not believe so.

PS: Am not sure but I think that inMoby does pay us with a lower revenue limit than inneractive, is that right?
Cheers,

Those of you having good luck on inMobi, what kind of fill rates are you getting?

I was very pleased with the payouts on inMobi. I figured I would give Inneractive a shot with the current promotion and I was having fill rate issues. Made sense to me that higher fill rates would end up paying even better.

Currently the plan is to go back to inMobi on the latest update I plan to submit this week.

Thanks for input folks. [import]uid: 8533 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82102[/import]

My fill rate is 70% and my CPC is 2 cents. [import]uid: 29181 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82104[/import]

2 cents is the DOUBLE of what mine is making! So I`ll give it a try as 2c is better than 1c! :slight_smile:

@Rodrigo

We are going back to inMobi. This little experiment is costing us every day. It was expected to start out slow and gradually climb, but that has not happened.

As far as your Android question:

I hate to sound negative, but I take what I can get on Android. Have very low expectations. Android has so many hacks and such that block ads and it is so easy to copy apps and pass them around. My ad numbers for Android are insignificant. On a normal day I am lucky to make $1.00 on Android with ads. Days that iOS went over $100 in ads, Android was pulling in $2.

Right now the money for me with Android is the Kindle Fire. Sales have skyrocketed since the Fire has been out. I hardly even consider the Kindle Fire an Android tablet with it’s locked in system. It resembles Apple far more than the Android Market.

Again, this is my experience and others may be having better luck with Android. [import]uid: 8533 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82108[/import]

@gindlesperger - I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. [import]uid: 89165 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82114[/import]

Well, I was about to try Inneractive and finally put ads in my app. I feared the revenue would be low but if it’s really that low, what’s the point?

I could try inMobi but are you now saying that doesn’t work well either?

I agree it seems that in-app purchases are probably the way to go here. [import]uid: 22392 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82120[/import]

I am using inmobi for about 2 months, and also experimented with inneractive last few days.

My inmobi fillrate is awful: about 20% or something… As my target audience is 60% turkish, 40% european (mainly german and french market) citizens, that fillrate seems reasonable. I have tried countless ad networks with native apps, and come to a conclusion that; if you are not targetting us or central european market, you gonna get awfull fillrates. thats it.

The problem with inneractive is very low CPC… its about 0.015, while my average CPC for inmobi is 0.050 and somedays it climbs up 0.09… thats a big difference.

Inneractive fill rates are very high (compared to inmobi), and i really like their ad inventory, mostly game apps with beautiful banners. But with this CPC, It is not feasible to use inneractive.

Last notes; my other native apps are using admob, and i am very happy with the results. I wish we would have admob support.

Conclusion; the winner is inmobi (for corona)… But… it could be better, much better. [import]uid: 11686 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82230[/import]

Hey guys,

Thank you for bringing this up.
I would like to share with you some intel about the industry.
January is always the lowest month in terms of revenues in this industry as companies are just in the final stage of advertising and marketing budget. Once this is done - we will see more and more premium campaigns as we just had for Android Australia – the CPC was $0.09 NET to the developer.
The last month of 2011 was a great month in terms of campaigns we had Google, AppsFire, Playtika, Nokia and many other premium brands that had a really high CPC.

We already have many blitz campaigns lining up to go live for February so I will suggest you to wait and see how we are doing there.

I will keep updating you about these campaigns :slight_smile:
Feel free to send me an email for more information

@Orly

Not having a clue how the industry works is no doubt part of my problem. I see dollars and that is how I rate performance. :slight_smile: I do not know much about the industry at all. In my mind things just did not add up that the inMobi dropped like I expected, but Inneractive numbers never really maintained any kind of climb.

I talked things over with the others involved in our company and I believe we are going to stay with Inneractive for 2 months and see how it goes and make a decision from there.

You have been very helpful and informative so none of this is as a result of the service we get from you. [import]uid: 8533 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82268[/import]

IMO the Ads should be GOOD (about the CPC principally) at most countries. My market is Brazilian and there my Inneractive Ads click - OR has a value of 0.01c or even 0.00! What can I do? Like this for sure is die of hungry. :\ [import]uid: 89165 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82271[/import]

hi all,

I just released my own ad manager for corona. By using this simple module you can change ad networks without submitting new updates to apple, and also you can show your own banners if you wish. All ad configuration is driven by a simple configuration script sitting on your own web space.

go check it out: http://developer.anscamobile.com/code/ad-manager [import]uid: 11686 topic_id: 20843 reply_id: 82663[/import]

Hey RSCdev

My name is Bill and I am from Tapit.

Right now in our ad network, we are experiencing a shortage of requests at this time. There is not a lot of demand coming from Brazil inventory as am sure other networks are going through the same.

Thanks
