Ad Network Options And Issues

Hi Everyone,

I’m new to these forums and have spent the last few hours reading up on all kinds of helpful things.

I’d also like to state that I’m not a developer (yet),I’m a product guy managing a few developers on a personal project.

So we have a title that been out for a little over 4 months now…it’s been doing great in terms of downloads and feedback etc…

the 1 area I’ve never been happy about is the ad performance… (It’s not top priority for me, but in the end I think they should at least look right and hopefully over time prove worthwhile to have)

I know we are using Admediator to serve inneractive ads exclusively…

I’ve read a bunch of post on both Admediator and inneractive here .

What I notice is …the ads, when shown on my Ipad2 are just not scaled correctly… I’m expecting a 728X90 and what I get is more like 771X120 (?)

This brings up my initial questions:

in your experience

  1. What are the best AD serving options for things built using the Corona sdk?

  2. Should i (my devs) use different ad networks for IOS / Android?

and for my ADmediator/inneractive issue…

Anyone else have the resolution issue with ads and know a good solution I can provide my dev team?

Should I use Admediator to show the other networks it supports?

Should I use it for both platforms (IOS/Android)

I’d love to hear how others have handled these issues as its clear that there are limitation to what is possible.

Thanks so much!

  1. Do not use inneractive or InMobi. They are the worst performing ad networks out there (until someone can name something worse!). I experimented with TapIt as well and wouldn’t recommend it, though it did better than inneractive and InMobi.

  2. RevMob, iAd, and AdMob are good in their own ways (those are the ones I have experience with). There are probably a few other good ones as well. RevMob has the best potential for high eCPMs (~$3-8) when they’re able to attract advertisers (they’ve been having trouble lately), while AdMob is the most consistent (around ~$1 eCPM).

@Puzzle Runner I thought Corona doesn’t support AdMob …has this changed?

@Steve If you’re on enterprise, you can integrate the AdMob SDK yourself. I would also expect a plugin to show up relatively quickly once CoronaLabs gets them up and running. Though it could also be awhile as CoronaLabs has be vague on the subject of when the average joe will be able to provide plugins, instead focusing most of their hype on “partners”.

If you’re simply starter or Pro, you can use the Deniza’s admediator to deliver AdMob ads. It’s still good, just not as good as the native experience. https://github.com/deniza/Ad-Mediator-for-Corona/wiki/Documentation

I will not recommend to use that admediator for ADMOB. For other ones i don’t know. But google has some fame of banning people without even telling them  And in their agreement it is clearly stated that you must use their own sdk while implementing admob.
So our duty as members if we want to use Admob , push , push and psh Corona for a native ADMOB support for pro users. As for me my pro account finished 1.5 months ago. I am still in thinking period for renewing or moving to some other sdk. If you are interested in, i can share my other sdks experiences with you. In here i don’t want to make any advertisement. But beleive me there are so good competitors out there, even in supporting lua code.
