Adding a new device to provisioning profile

I have never really got my head around how the provisioning profiles and certificates work but all has been fine for months as I have not had to change anything.

Anyway I needed to add a new testing device today so I have logged into the apple developer site and added the new device to the provisioning profile.

I have also downloaded this provisioning profile to the desktop of my mac.

Now I am not sure what to do next. Do I need to start messing with key chains and certificates or is there simply a way of replacing my provisioning profile with the new one?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I attempted to add the provisioning profile by clicking the plus sign in Xcode organiser to add it to my phone and also adding the provisioning profile in the folder /Users/macuser/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning Profiles

I am really just guessing and I can see my guesses are not working as now when I try to test the game on my own iPhone which worked previously I get the error

The application does not have a valid signature.

Any help appreciated.

Now I am not sure if it is related but I installed xcode 3.2.5 and ios sdk 4.2 this morning too so the problem could in theory be related to that as I have not tried to create a text version for my phone since before this installation.

So frustrating having to spend a day every time I try to make a change to any of this provisioning profile malarkey. [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 7026 reply_id: 24618[/import]

After several hours of tinkering i finally got it to work by deleting everything and starting from scratch. I am sure I must be doing something wrong as I am sure this is not required every time a new device is added.

Anyway great to be back up and running:) [import]uid: 7863 topic_id: 7026 reply_id: 24666[/import]

I finally realized after adding the new device in the Provisioning Profiles on the Apple dev center, you need to re-download the ad hoc profile and replace the old version in Xcode. Strange how TestFlight is so “easy” to use but they don’t provide very much information on getting started. [import]uid: 45104 topic_id: 7026 reply_id: 42143[/import]

You are lucky! I had to delete 8 times last night until I made it work! finally I realized that the process really sucks big time, but what can you do?
cheers

I don’t know… I plugged in my new device, opened Xcode and was greeted with a message asking me if I wanted to use my new device for testing. I answered yes and that was all. [import]uid: 22392 topic_id: 7026 reply_id: 42154[/import]

Yeah, I’ve got the hang of it now. I’ve got two friends as beta testers now on TestFlight! Awesome service! [import]uid: 45104 topic_id: 7026 reply_id: 42156[/import]

Another note if anyone else is having trouble, you have to restart Corona after you change the ad hoc provisioning in Xcode. Simple, I know. [import]uid: 45104 topic_id: 7026 reply_id: 42158[/import]
