AdMob on iOS in landscape - confirmed bug, Corona Labs please update to latest AdMob SDK

Not sure if this is AdMob or Corona bug.

After the interstitial is shown, the banner will not be shown anymore.

Here is what I get in the log:

<Warning>: <Google:HTML> You are currently using version 6.12.0 of the SDK, which doesn’t officially support iOS 8. Please consider updating your SDK to the most recent sdk version, 6.12.2, to get iOS 8 support, including a fix for smart banner rendering in landscape mode. The latest SDK can be downloaded from http://goo.gl/iGzfsP.

As you can read, Google admits a bug for landscape mode, also this SDK does not support iOS8!

Using latest build: 2014.2511

Corona Labs, please fix this ASAP.

Damir

@Damir,

Hi.  To help speed things along, you’ll want to file a bug: http://developer.coronalabs.com/content/bug-submission

Note: No, I don’t work for Corona Labs, but I do know they’ll want this.  They don’t fix bugs out of the forums because (as professionals) they need to track new, existing, and prior bugs.  The only way to do this (well) is via their bug system.

Cheers,

Ed

It’ll be interesting to see how fast competing ad network problems get resolved if at all… Fuse Powered ad plugin must be priority number one now I’m guessing.

After you file the bug report, you will get an email with a Case # in it. Please post that number back here as a reference.

Rob

By when can we get 6.12.2 support from Corona?

Has anyone filed a bug report on this yet?

Rob

I think at least we should expect from Corona Labs is to keep the AdMob SDK up-to-date.

Don’t see why should we fill a bug report for this.

Regards,

Damir

Let me try to explain this.  Engineering’s work load is assigned based on tasks in the bug tracker.   They do not use Forum reports to fix things.  As for the AdMob SDK and others, we look at each release’s release notes and decide what benefit it has to the community vs. work involved to implement.   Apparently the information in the release notes didn’t warrant an upgrade.  However you seem to have found a bug that may be fixed by upgrading.  To get engineering to schedule this work, we need a bug report.

I don’t have a sample app that has this issue.  You do.  Sure I should spend several hours trying to duplicate your problem.  You’ve given me a hint, a banner after an interstitial doesn’t show up but what if my sample works?  It’s very difficult to ask someone else to duplicate your problem off of a short description. On the other hand, you have the problem handy.  It’s far easier for you to file the bug report. This is a case of “Help us help you”.  Simply file a bug report attach some code so the engineers can see the problem and know when it’s fixed.  Then the work can get scheduled.
