AdMob support

I know this falls under the larger feature request of native-code integration, but until a full-fledged method for doing so gets worked out, interim support for AdMob would be lovely …

We are looking at some options including Admob and others.

+1 on this. would be great if we could monetize our apps using these advertising facilities. when can we expect this feature?

thanks!

soon. we are actually working on some solution but we have no time line yet as something as this is a protracted process.

Also consider support for http://www.flurry.com/ to collect analytics [import]uid: 4366 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 653[/import]

What’s the status of the AdMob support? Thanks! [import]uid: 3686 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 2459[/import]

If admob support could be possible with android then it would be an instant by for me. For now I am considering using rokon and doing all in java but I would definetly prefer using corona. [import]uid: 6682 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 2510[/import]

So, Carlos, what did you mean, almost 1 1/2 years ago, by “soon?”

Yes, the admob hack works, (perhaps only semi-reliably on iOS) even though the fill rate is low compared to native implementations. But a hack is not something I want to have to rely on, and I’m sure turns off many potential Corona subscribers who are trying to make a business making apps. We need solid, professionally implemented ad support native to Corona.

Ad support is even more crucial now that “freemium” is supplanting the lite-full model. Not every app can be tooled around in-app-purchases, and if people now expect to download most apps for free we need solid ways to monetize, and ads are proven to work. This is especially true for Android, where there seems to be a lot of resistance by most folks to actually pay for something.

I spoke recently with another Corona developer with a successful game and he mentioned that the ad supported “lite” version was generating 99% of their downloads, and the majority of their income (and, for the first time, profit over their dev. costs). On the one hand it was great to hear that someone using Corona could make a profit, on the other it’s unsettling that their success or failure is dependent on a hack.

+1 for me any news?? I have 2 native apps that have iAd’s and they generate 20 - 40 dollars a day so its very important to get the ads in my corona apps.

The admob hack isn’t worth while as the fill rates are very low and the ecpm is about 40cents.

As mentioned above, ads are more important for Android users as they are cheap won’t pay for anything!

The Ad implementation is holding me back from re subscribing , its that important. [import]uid: 11459 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 37273[/import]

Now we have Credit Rewards, another way to monetize. Thanks for that, team Ansca.

But the jury is still out on what kind of revenue stream CR will generate. I think a certain segment of users will simply never click on a CR type offer. And apps that don’t have a natural way to incorporate virtual currency can’t take advantage of CR.

Ads are proven to generate income. So, I still say, we need iAds, adMob, etc. officially supported by Corona. [import]uid: 9422 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 37315[/import]

1+
iAds for iOS game and Admob for android game.

@Carlos: You should have a look at mobclix.com

And, how about a plugin or extention system? We need to self-create anything we want and plug into CORONA, by this way, we will have any “must have” feature as soon as posible instead of waiting “month-to-month” from you.

How long we have to waiting for in-game purchase for Android, Openfeint for Android and iAd, Admob support instead some useless UI, Virtual Currency from Ansca?

How long, Carlos?

Seems like adwhirl covers all the bases: Owned by adMob, supports multiple ad networks including iAds, works on Android and iOS, free and open source.

I realize the hold up on any kind of ad feature in Corona may be Ansca trying to figure out how to make money off each ad served. I would happily give Ansca 5% off the top in exchange for a reliable ad service integrated into Corona.

EDIT:
One more point: There are 13,000,000 Corona-made apps in the wild (as Ansca recently boasted). Imagine if even half of them were running ads with a 5% kickback to Ansca? Carlos, you’d be driving a Ferrari to work by down.

I’m now going to try really hard to shut up about ads and get back to finishing my game. [import]uid: 9422 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 37392[/import]

+1 … I gone push this feature request because it’s a feature we really need, and right now we are considering not using Corona for our game development.

Like the others said, ads are very important for games. For me it is more important then IAPs.

Would be great to see a timeline so that the developers know if there are any plans for that or how long it will take till we can see this feature integrated in Corona. [import]uid: 56928 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 39502[/import]

Openfeint for Android and Admob are very big things for me. I wont use corona ui or virtual currency ever. And i think Ansca has one little problem: sharing information. If someone ask for example some feature, nobody from Ansca answers. So we dont know when new features are coming or what Ansca are doing. [import]uid: 18445 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 39511[/import]

Ha ha, +1 for your post XenonBL.

@Ansca Mobile: Admob for android and iAd for iOS, faster, faster… [import]uid: 9190 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 39562[/import]

Carlos.
Com’on almost $400 for reg on Corona and no admob support, except a hack that kills the ecpm.
Please make this a priority.
The ad groups that are offered currently are very weak.
Are you reading this?? [import]uid: 2165 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 94612[/import]

Make ofitsealno support AdMod very necessary, given that the Ukraine may not be sold to the application. Google Play. [import]uid: 127791 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 95101[/import]

They did not hear or listen anything from their customers.
If admob do not pay or cut share for them, then they will kill their customer satisfaction.

Are you “Pro Developer”? Then you still nothing, money is everything. [import]uid: 9190 topic_id: 308 reply_id: 95107[/import]
