Admob vs inneractive vs revmob

@Naomi i agree with you and ( vopmms ) and I think vopmms hit the nail on the head - give it to the developers (pro and indie)! And stop trying to charge them for it. [import]uid: 11860 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144929[/import]

The plugin system “gluon” - will be coming soon. I believe we will be able to use plugins but they have to be developed by enterprise users. Or at least, that was my understanding! [import]uid: 204816 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144931[/import]

Yep that what it sounds like in “CoronaPaper” released for march.

Larry [import]uid: 11860 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144933[/import]

I developed Yumby Toss on Corona, and my other game, Yumby Smash, on Unity.

I love Corona, but I’m frustrated at the lack of viable ad networks. How are we going to make money without any of the top ad networks available to us? Inneractive performs terribly, and InMobi isn’t any better.

On Yumby Smash, I’ve integrated HeyZap, Vungle, RevMob and Chartboost. Here’s what I’m seeing:

RevMob is getting between $1.20 - $1.40 eCPMs.

ChartBoost is delivering eCPMs in the $2.50 range.

Vungle is delivering eCPMs in the $18 range.

HeyZap is delivering eCPMs in the $2.75 - $3.50 range.

NOTE: My Android app has had over 600,000 downloads and should hit a million by the end of the month, if all goes well, so the data sampling is pretty large.

Let’s all vote for the folks at Corona to include HeyZap, Chartboost and Vungle. This will make a HUGE difference in monetizing our Corona apps.

Should have done this a long time ago… going to Unity. [import]uid: 1884 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144906[/import]

Here’s an interesting thread relevant to what we all want:

Hopefully Corona will put a big effort in enabling non-enterprise users like us to use Chartboost, Vungle, Heyzap, PlayHaven, Tapfortap, etc. sooner than later.

BTW, @vopmms, you don’t need to go to Unity to do this. Unless you are already very well versed in using Unity, I think you’d be better off upgrading to Enterprise (in terms of cost and learning curve.) See these posts:

That’s true… Corona gives us few options for ads. [import]uid: 162818 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144913[/import]

Naomi, does “Hopefully Corona will put a big effort in enabling non-enterprise users like us to use Chartboost, Vungle, Heyzap, PlayHaven, Tapfortap, etc. sooner than later” go for Indie Developers too? [import]uid: 162818 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144914[/import]

@WilerJr, yes, I’m hoping Corona would put that big effort and make these things available to both Indie & Pro Developers.

Naomi [import]uid: 67217 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144915[/import]

AdMob stated they weren’t going to allow ads from outside their SDK. Not sure how AdMediator is getting them or if AdMob have implemented that yet. But either it’s coming or it’s outside their TOS. ? [import]uid: 204816 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144922[/import]

Am I the only one that thinks its totally ridiculous that we have to upgrade to enterprise to get common ads services like Chartboost, Playhaven, etc? I refuse to do that!

Whats next VIP edition for in app purchases? [import]uid: 1884 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144923[/import]

Hey, @vopmms, I do wish these ads services are already available for Pro & Indie users. I only mentioned Enterprise because you sounded like you’d consider moving on to Unity because the more favorable ad providers are missing. From what I understand, Unity is a lot more expensive than Enterprise (definitely for single user anyway) – and unless you are already familiar with Unity, the transition to Unity may not be so smooth…

Naomi [import]uid: 67217 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144924[/import]

Actually let’s get a little technical here I may bitch moan and complain about some things, but Corona cannot support every ad system natively since they are lua instead of “Java” and objective C.

If the ad networks support HTTP / JSON a good lua programmer can write a wrapper with the ad companies assistance, heck you can use the code from REVMob as a good example to start from

Otherwise we are saying its corona’s responsibility to build this in for all companies and it’s not… It’s nice to have…

Something that is Corona’s responsibility is more like Amazon In-app purchases ( which is greatly needed and should be #1 on their list )

That’s just My 2 Cents.

@Naomi - Thanks for suggesting Unity. I actually bought Unity already. Right now the price is a one time fee of 800 and that includes export to all the platforms they offer and all plugins (basically no restriction). You get an IDE and everything is just better.

Naomi, I can tell you are very passionate developer, please don’t let Corona hold you back. Because thats exactly what they are doing. They are holding all indie developers back by not putting them first.

The app store has been out for more than 3 years? Why are Corona users waiting for basic features? OMG … ridiculous.

I must say this again, if you are developer and you are waiting for a tool that you paid for to give you what you need then we already lost. We are “developers”, let us develop! [import]uid: 1884 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144926[/import]

@doubledashdesign - I agree with what you are saying. Unity has its own plugin system that you can develop any plugin you want and you are not charged extra for it.

My complaint is now that Corona has a plugin system (if i’m correct), give it to the developers (pro and indie)! And stop trying to charge them for it. [import]uid: 1884 topic_id: 33879 reply_id: 144927[/import]

@vopmms, I thought Unity was a lot more expensive, but it sounds like I was mistaken. Sounds like it’s a good option for you then. Good luck with it.

@Larry, I think In-App Purchase is just as important as good ad services. I wouldn’t trade one over the other. We’d need both. Thanks for your suggestion about using RevMob as reference for wrapping other ad services.
