Ads in starter version

Can I put ads in an app made with the starter version or is this considered a ‘premium monetization feature’?

Douglas, couple of things to mention here:

  1. In the immediate future, as we roll out plugins, they will only available for Pro (because plugins in the short term will require daily builds).

  2. However, after the next public release, some of those will be made available to Starter and this will include some ad networks

  3. Today, as a Starter developer, you can use any ad networks that have made a Lua library (e.g., RevMob and Lunar Ads)

  4. I am pretty sure Inmobi is in there right now for Starters, and so is inneractive on Android

(Not an official answer…but my answer is for the way I interpreted the question.)

If you can do it in starter, then you can do it in starter. In other words, if you can put ads in your app, then go for it. There’s nothing you have to “refrain from doing” when using the Starter Edition.

Some things you *can’t* do (like in-app purchases) but that’s completely different. I don’t believe you can “accidentally” do something you aren’t allowed to do in the Starter edition.

So, correct me if i am wrong

IAP - Definitely required minimum Pro ver

Ads - limited Ads Network for starter, Premium (many choices) Ads Network for Pro

am i right?

What’s the ‘Premium Analytics’ means?

Is it something where it can give you the statistic how many users based on country? time?

What if they do not connect to internet?

weilies,

  1. Yes, for IAPs you need Pro.

  2. Actually most of the ad network plugins are available for Starters and Pros. But yes, some of them will not be available to Starter.

  3. The part on analytics means that you do not have access to the analytics library we provide, which today is Flurry. You can still use the built in analytics we provide and you can see when you log into your account.

To answer you final question - if a user never connects to the internet when running your app, then there is nothing anyone can do to get info on them. They do have to connect at least once.
