Advantage of upgrading to corona pro

Hello…

I am thinking of upgrading to Corona Pro.

Can someone tell me the advantage of doing that…

–Graphics

–Analytics (how do they work, and why they can help me sell more ups)

–Support(can I ask more specific questions)

–building for Android(this I really need help, to be able to put my apps there)

–what else?

–Price ( is a membership every year?)

– 1 fix price for life (how much)

– can I do payments ( like $ so much, per month)

– do I get a new software, a new simulator, how does it work?

– Please let me know, honestly, if you think it will be worth it

to pay extra money to upgrade to Corona Pro.

You should probably read the comparison list? That has pricing and features right there for you (some of what you think you get is not there)

The main interesting reason to go with Pro is for access to the Daily Builds. There are constant fixes/improvements to Corona and it can be really great to get onboard those fixes now as opposed to whenever the next Public build happens.

I want to learn. Where do I go?

I saw the --comparison list (and the list of plug-ins)

–INNERACTIVE – no idea what this is, what is this for, and how can I use it for my apps

–ADMOB – no idea what this is, what is this for, and how can I use it for my apps

–PINSIGHT – no idea what this is, what is this for, and how can I use it for my apps

–IPHOTON – no idea what this is, what is this for, and how can I use it for my apps

–VUNGLE – no idea what this is, what is this for, and how can I use it for my apps

–FORTUMO – no idea what this is, what is this for, and how can I use it for my apps

on and on and on

what should I do, to get more information.

– I don’t think going to Google and typing the name one by one would help, it will take too much time…

There’s a category beside each group of plugins. So you would know that Inneractive and Admob are for displaying ads in your app. I don’t know much about them either, but I could visit their websites for details. All I really need to know up front is “Display Ads” which Corona has right on the comparison.

I would agree that Corona should make the logos clickable, though - would be much easier to review specific options that way.

In any case, for that specific comparator, the only Pro-exclusives are:

  • iTunes: lets you access your existing music library

  • Address Book: lets you access the iPhone contacts list

  • Bit: lets you perform bit ops (if you don’t know what this is you probably don’t need it)

  • OpenSSL: lets you perform encrypted network actions

  • OpenUDID: A method to tell any given device apart from another, cross platform

  • Social: Lets you use native popups for FB/twitter/Weibo, if you have them hooked up through iOS settings

  • Zip: the ability to zip/unzip some content in your project

Thanks.

There is a lot to learn.

I will take a look at all that.

But I think I will upgrade, soon…

Good questions.

Hi Victor.  As a Pro subscriber you will get:

  • Full access to all of the Graphics 2.0 goodies
  • Access to daily builds so as we fix things or introduce new features, if you brave into that world, you can get them quicker than waiting on public builds.
  • Access to In-App Purchases (a Basic subscribers gets this as well, but not a Starter)
  • Access to premium plugins which Richard listed above and more are coming.
  • Analytics – while it doesn’t directly help you make more money, it can let you know what’s going on in your app.  What features are being used, how often, how long are people playing your app and so on.  You do have to take time and make calls to record data about various features of your app, but the more you know about your customers the better you can build and market for them.

Building for Android you can do with a Starter account.  There is no difference in support levels for a Pro subscriber other than access to the Daily builds.

Pro (as well as Basic, Enterprise etc.) are annual subscriptions which have to be paid for once a year.

You get new software by downloading it from us when we release it, just like you do now with the Starter account, but like I said you aslo get access to the daily builds (not every day but pretty often) and you download it from our website, and install it just like the Corona SDK you are currently using.

As for these:

-INNERACTIVE –  Ads for your app.

–ADMOB – Ads for your app.

–PINSIGHT – More advertising

–IPHOTON – Real-time multi-player data service.  Allows players to play against each other over the internet.

–VUNGLE – Video ads for your app.

–FORTUMO – In-App purchases for Barnes & Noble Nook apps as well as Android apps sold in non Google Play and Amazon stores.

You can read more about our plugin providers here:   http://coronalabs.com/resources/plugins/

There is an S, B and P icon that indicates the minimum subscription level needed to access the plugin.  So if it’s an S anyone can use it. If it’s a P only Pro and Enterprise subscribers can use it.

Hope this helps!

Rob
