Advertisement from Corona?

I"m just curious how ansca corona works when you publish your app from this site. When you make A game and price with money not free. Do any of you get daily downloads on a paid App. [import]uid: 17058 topic_id: 19812 reply_id: 319812[/import]

iOS apps can only be sold from the Apples iTunes store. Ansca is not involved in the sales in any fashion.

For Android games, you have to buy the games from one of several Android marketplaces (Google, Amazon, etc.). As far as I know Ansca does not maintain an Android store, so they should not be involved in sales in any fashion.

They do manage an App Showcase, but it just provides links to the appropriate stores where you can buy it. I don’t believe Ansca makes any money off of any app sales.

@Robmiracle so if your sales are good that could be because you made a good app right? [import]uid: 17058 topic_id: 19812 reply_id: 76827[/import]

Naw, I made a good app but my sales suck. Its all about promotion and getting your app out in front.

I guess I misread your question.

For Omniblaster, my one paid app, There was an initial burst of sales for the first few days but after that it’s trickled off to 0-2 per day. Though with the last update, I got a two day surge of sales that was about 25% of the initial surge. None of my previous updates even hit a blip in sales.

There are many factors in determining what your sales are going to be. How many apps do you have, what kind of ratings is your app getting, what kind of ratings are your other apps getting and how much social network traction you can get.

@Robmiracle well I’m surprised your app is not getting decent downloads. I found your app really fun. So you would think is promotion for getting your app up front huh? [import]uid: 17058 topic_id: 19812 reply_id: 76837[/import]

yep, its all about promotion… [import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 19812 reply_id: 76838[/import]

@robmiracle and what about your Omniblaster lite is that getting good downloads. Also is it getting decent advertising clicks. [import]uid: 17058 topic_id: 19812 reply_id: 76840[/import]

Beyond it’s initial surge, I probably average 25 a day with it. Though oddly the last update brought a pretty good surge.

Switching to inneractive for ads has been a good move for me, but for Omniblaster Lite, it’s really a case of too late.

Games have a shelf-life that’s fairly short. Even for hits like Angry Birds and Doodle Jump, you only play them heavily when they are new. Updates can get the app a little attention. For me inMobi was a total fail, though again it was too late for me.

But I think my development costs are going to be recovered so that’s a positive step. [import]uid: 19626 topic_id: 19812 reply_id: 76844[/import]

@robmiracle so you think would doing inneractive ads is an great or excellent way to recover development money or to make money [import]uid: 17058 topic_id: 19812 reply_id: 76845[/import]

Well advertising has its own issues. First of all you have to get enough apps out there for it to be good. For apps, which tend to not have the shelf life issues game do, for instance an app like GasBuddy which finds the cheapest gas around you… You open the app, spend a minute finding your cheap gas, then you quit the app and probably don’t run it again for another week.

For that to work, your app has to be on a lot of devices, but those devices will use the app just as much today as it will next month or next year. Its steady flow.
Your game on the other hand will hopefully be played in the 5 minute to hours at a time, but players are distracted by the game and really are not tapping on ads. But this level of play is only going to last for a couple of months after the game comes out then it’s going to trickle off.

So I would think for games, its important to get the ads in right away. Free games definitely download at a much faster rate. You just have to figure out how to monitize the free apps.
