All 3 adventure games by Fire Maple Games now available on Windows Phone Store!

Hey all,

Just a quick note announcing that all 3 of our adventure games are now available on the Windows Phone Store!

I am very thankful to the whole CoronaLabs team for making it possible. So awesome!

I used some of my spare time from working on The Secret of Grisly Manor 2 to port them over :wink:

If you want to check them out, here are links to all three of our games, as well as our ā€œUltimate Adventure Collectionā€ which bundles the three games togetherĀ at a discount:

Hi, Did you rename your Mosaika to hidden world?

@rbm1155: Yeah, we were trying out a little rebranding experiment. Mosaika didnā€™t do nearly as well as the other two, just seeing if we could affect anything.

So many factors, and It could be a ton of things of course, but we figured the name might be a little too cryptic, not evocative enough of an adventure game. So we changed the name, the logo, and the icon to see if it would have any effect - it didnā€™t :slight_smile:

And donā€™t get me wrong, Mosaika did great. We just wanted to see what would happen if we tweaked some things.

Good luck in the Windows Phone Store!

Congrats on getting your apps published to theĀ WP8 store so quickly Joe!Ā  :slight_smile:

congrats joe! i am right now trying to port christmas grooh to wp8 :slight_smile:

tell me how the window thing did work out for you.

@dingo: Thanks, man!

Porting the games was pretty straightforward. Just had to remake all the .mp3 files as .oggs which only took a minute.

The only other thing I had to deal with was the size of the device. I am testing on the smaller Lumia phone - apparently the most popular Windows phone - and the smaller size was cropping off my HUD elements. So I reprogrammed part of my inventory system and everything was good to go.

As far as sales go, the 3 games plus the bundle have now been on sale for a month. Collectively I have 198 sales so far. I average between 1 and 13 sales a day.

Not sure if that is good, bad, or what can be expected.

The games are all $.99, and the bundle is $1.99

When Corona sent out the email announcing the ability to publish to Windows Phone 8, I ran out and got a cheapo Windows 8 laptop for $299, a Nokia Lumia phone for $69, and a SIM card for $25. CoronaCards is currently free with my Pro subscription.

With CoronaCards being free, I should have no problem breaking even on my investment.

However, when the free trial of CoronaCards runs out, Iā€™ll have to see if it is worth it or not to renew.

Everything on Coronaā€™s side went smoothly and was super easy to implement, the games play nicely on the fairly underpowered Lumia, but Iā€™m notĀ entirely sure if I can make 500$ a year with my games on the Windows Phone 8 store.

thanks a lot for the infos joe!

Iā€™ve asked since your games are commercial and did very well on iOS, just to get a feeling a bit about the market. Do you know, did one of the games ever get featured?

Windows sales compared to your iOS/Androidā€¦wellā€¦how shall I sayā€¦ I guess its not really a market then? :slight_smile:

anyway, looking forward to your sequel, and hope family is doing well!

@dingo:

None of my games have ever been featured on iOS or Android. Someday hopefully! :slight_smile:

Yeah, not sure if there is a market or not. Billions of people use Windows, right?

There has to be a market there somewhere, but I do not know anyone, or know anyone who knows anyone with a Windows phone.

And Iā€™m not sure if free/ads, freemium with IAP, or straight paid is the way to go either. Who knows.
Straight paid does ok for me on iOS/Android, not sure if that flies on Windows.

And maybe $200 a month is totally rocking it on the Windows market. I would hope not, but not sure how to tell otherwise. :slight_smile:

And thanks, family is doing great, and we are hard at work on GM2. I am deep into making the art right now!

Did CoronaLabs say that the WP8 corona cards license being free with pro subscription, was just a temporary deal? I think a lot of people are assuming this to be a permanent deal.

@elbowroomapps:

From the blog post:

We are also giving ALL current Pro and Enterprise developers a license of CoronaCards for WP8 (with the same expiration date as your existing Pro or Enterprise license).

So I assume it expires?

And the subscription price is fine on Coronaā€™s end, I certainly donā€™t mind supporting their efforts to open new markets, Iā€™m just not sure if my type of games, or my type of paid business model is the right fit for the Windows Phone Marketplace.

ā€‹Not sure if otherĀ devs are killing it on Windows Phone and I am missing the mark somehow?

i think when having a pro license, you always get the wp8 coronacards license included.

@joe:

amazing how you did all that without getting featured! about your wp8 performanceā€¦ i hope to be wrong but i think youā€™re doing fine there. i just hoped that you would tell me like: ā€œyes, easy 200 downloads a dayā€ :slight_smile:

good luck with GM2! (i am slowly starting with a sequel of Grooh too :))

Hey guys - we plan on always including support for WP8 (whether it is via CoronaCards or not) as part of Pro and Enterprise. So that wonā€™t change.
