All Nook devices

I am using Kwik 3 and Corona Version 2014.2393. I submitted my app to Nook and received this response:

  • The application will not install on NOOK Color due to the fact that

NOOK Color is FROYO (SDK 8) while NOOK Tablet is based off GB (SDK 10)
and NOOK HD/HD+ devices are ICS (SDK 15). Please downgrade to SDK 8 in
order for the application to be able to install on all NOOK devices.

Since I was also building for amazon, there is a slight possibility that the apk I uploaded to Nook was the one built for amazon, but I don’t think so.

Does the creating the apk targeting Nook include all Nook devices?

Thanks for any help.

Corona SDK has a minimum SDK support of 2.3.3, which will run on the HD and HD+ devices and Tablet.  However The Nook Color is a 2.2 device.  You can go back to an older build of Corona SDK (build 2189, should be a link to the public release archives on the download page) that will still run on the Nook Color.  However, you can’t use any advertising (shouldn’t be an issue on Nook since they generally have not allowed ads in the past).  Just be aware if you downgrade to 2189 just to get the the Nook color, you’re loosing a lot of bug fixes and features just to pick up a very small market share of devices.

Thanks so much for this response.

Apparently, Nook won’t allow me to publish on their site unless the app will work on ALL of their devices, which means I won’t lose just the Nook Color uses, but all the Nook market…which, while not great, has been better for my children’s book apps than amazon or Google. Hopefully, this app won’t need the new features.

I appreciate the info.

Are you sure? The last time I submitted there (admittedly its been a while), there was a place to check which devices you wanted to support.

Rob

Yes!!  You are absolutely correct!   I am so blitzed with trying to publish to all the stores. :stuck_out_tongue:  Problem solved.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
