Amazon App Advertisements (new)

Amazon has started a new program for app developers to advertise their apps on on the wake screens of kindles and a few other places. Its under the “Promotions” tab in your developer console.

Currently you can’t make your own ads, there auto generated by Amazon. They sent me a promotional deal of $500 free clicks to use, its in beta currently. I just started showing the ads today. I’ll post some results if anybody is interested…

If you own a kindle and see an ad for “Fritter”, that’s me

Steve

so far its amounted to nothing much of anything… 1800+ views / 33 clicks / no installs

Thanks for sharing. I am interested in this. Sorry to hear that it isn’t working out for you.

it was free, so it can amount to nothing. The ads are pretty bland and its only been going for a day so far.

Day 1

3525 views / 62 clicks / 32 installs

I have it set at 10 cents a click…

Day 2

2766 views / 58 clicks / 11 installs

is your app free or paid?

And so you get 5000 clicks for free? $500/ 0.10

T.

As long as they don’t charge me  … But yea, 5000. You can set the amount your willing to pay per click, but there are very few people using it as its in beta… .10 gets me a fair amount of views per day. I have to do some surveys about my experience, etc…

Fritter is free with IAP’s. I show interstitials between levels.

Would be an interesting case study.

I’m an “old dog” in that i go the lite/paid concept - which to be  truthful is not super productive - but i’m not a fan of the freemium model - so thats that.

the data would be interesting in regard to increases in tap throughs on your advertising & in apps % change from non  promotion periods.

And in fact % change in total new instals compared to other time periods installs.

But it’s up to you whether you wish to share or not.

T.

there’s really not a whole lot to share at the moment… The amazon version of my app also gives the user 100 in-game coins for installing it. So it will prolly be a week or two before I see any IAP’s in that version.

The game isn’t really freemium… you can play all the way thru without spending a dime. I’ll post as time permits

Day 3

1958 views / 33 clicks / ? installs

I’m starting to believe the “installs” info Amazon shows is not correct. It says 11 again but I write info to a db table about the device in the first run after install and there was way more than 11 fresh installs. Also some of the other info has been changing during the day (up/down/up) and I’m pretty sure they weren’t pushing any ads for a few hours yesterday.

Under my promotions tab, I only have a “Price Drop” option. It appears that that promotion is not open to everyone then…

yea, its in beta… when it shows up it will be a button that looks like the price drop one, to the right of it

Day 4

14571 views / 101 clicks / ? installs

I’m still getting install numbers that don’t match up. But I now think my ad is appearing on Kindles in markets other than (US). The views has increased by quite alot.

That is a lot of views, only 100 people out of 14k clicked the ad? Those click-through rates seem a little off imho?

its not exactly a visually striking ad… its real bland… but yea, nothing spectacular. Like I said,  its free… so I can’t complain

Day 5

43363 views / 150 clicks / ? installs

My admob impressions would indicate way more than the ‘installed’ amount shown in Amazon. I suspect that by the amount of views it is being shown on Kindle wake screens…
