An excellent video about app dev and marketing

Hi guys,

I just wanted to share a great site that feature a huge amount of video interviews with entrepreneurs. Even a lot of the videos do not relate to app dev directly but so do like the one here:

http://mixergy.com/jo-overline-ugly-meter-interview/

I am long term follower to Mixergy and you cannot believe the stuff you learn from those guys! In any event, this video podacast is really something to watch and learn from.

Andrew is an AMAZING guy. very down to Earth but very persuasive with his guests so you will hear sales number, marketing tactics and so on. The app itself is intersting but more importantly the videocast shows how the author was able to gather a huge amount of sale by creating two apps (one fake and one pretty good)

Enjoy!

ps: Do not wait! The video becomes unavailable after few days I believe. Then you will need to join as premium member to see it again. Still the transcript stays free.

I have been following Andrew Warner’s Mixergy website for a long time.
This is a gold mine for any entrepreneur (not wantrepreneurs, it’s too demanding).

i didn’t subscribe to a premium membership so it pushes me to actually watch the videos as soon as they are available, take an hour or two to study it, and apply to my business as soon as possible.
It’s working well that way.
I’m considering to subscribe (at least a few months) to support the site and I will give access to someone in my family.

Thanks for sharing, for the people that hadn’t heard about it.
I believe that I shared a link from the same site a few months ago but it got no attention.
(I am not surprised, though) [import]uid: 95346 topic_id: 25379 reply_id: 102536[/import]

@Peach: Glad you like it. I did not look at the video yet (yes I should) but i listen to the mp3 while traveling and it was a great podcast. A lot of good info. I highly suggest you hear the all thing.

@MrMells: Cool! I too a long time listener of Andrew and you are right, it is a gold mine. I will subscribe as soon I can afford it. In the last few months I got a Mac, Apple dev and Corona subscription so money is thight. Still the Mixergy subscription is also on my to do list because as you said, it is amazing how much good stuff comes out from there.

In my point of view, we all “entrepreneurs” here. I mean, if you decide to dev and sale apps, you have to deal with a lot similar issues like marketing, product dev, sale and so on. Some of us even multiple people working on the same projects. So a site like Mixergy is again a gold mine for us. I specially like it of course when he bring in app developer but you also gain by listening to other market guests.

I am glad I found someone here who know about Mixergy!!

Enjoy the video and watch soon or it will go away!

@Mo
"In my point of view, we all “entrepreneurs” here.
Well, by default I would define most of the people here (and everywhere) as wantrepreneurs.
Want to do something, but only able to do one part of the job.

  1. Some want to see the hidden part of the iceberg, learn and work hard on it (or delegate/find contractors).
  2. Some others don’t want to do the hardest part, and just close their ears so they can feel that they are “following their dreams” the right way. They limit themselves in doing what they like and what they are able to do.

I’m doing my best to be part of 1.
Because at the end, there are a lot of things that need to be taken care of.
The videos on Mixergy feature people that were not afraid of going outside of their comfort zone, and that is what I like.

Enjoy the video and watch soon or it will go away!
And I would add : APPLY. Watching is not enough.

Just wondering : how much attention will this thread get? [import]uid: 95346 topic_id: 25379 reply_id: 102592[/import]

@Mo
I thought you would also enjoy this article on Tim Ferris’s blog :
How to build an app empire

and Chad Mureta’s excellent website : chadmureta.com and his book.
I got great results by applying the advices spread on those sites in different businesses that I’m involved in.

WOW! great finds. Thank you for sharing. I knew of Tim but did not know he was involved in app dev. I definitelty did not know about Chad.

Thank you so much for sharing.

I agree with you that they are degrees of entrepreneurship. The crowed in Mixergy is the fully involved one. I think most people here are doing it because they love app dev. Of course it is gross generalization on my part I am sure.

Thanks again.

Mo.

ps: I hope this thread will get traction because app dev is a very involved endeavor and not simply limited to coding. At least when done right. A site like Mixergy or the ones you listed are an important part of learning to market apps (or anything for that matter) [import]uid: 100814 topic_id: 25379 reply_id: 102625[/import]

@Mo
If you are interested, I am collecting a lot of resources of that kind that I am planning to share { on my website }.
If you subscribe to the newsletter (opt-in form on the blog), I am sending that kind of valuable links that we all miss from time to time.
I tried to share it on the forum but as I said it got no attention.

Mo

EDIT: Ah! ah! I just realize that you were a studio out of Tokyo. That is very cool. [import]uid: 100814 topic_id: 25379 reply_id: 102633[/import]

Thanks for the kind words about my work, Mo. [import]uid: 95346 topic_id: 25379 reply_id: 102970[/import]
