analytics on by default for an app?

Heard on CoronaGeek a few episodes back (I’m not quite up to date) that Analytics is on by default for an app.  I don’t understand this however…can someone clarify?

When I look up the analystic API (http://docs.coronalabs.com/api/library/analytics/init.html) it indicates you would have to manually setup an account at flurry to get analytics…

Also, there is talk of Amplitude as an alternative to Flurry, but I assume Corona is not ready for Amplitude yet?  Also what is Amplitude and does anyone have a website?  Is Corona far off supporting this?

We also support third party analytics via the analytics plugin library (which you posted a link to).

A plugin for Amplitude is available in Daily Builds today and will be in a Public Release in due course. We are also moving our free builtin analytics to Amplitude (with reduced functionality) to improve performance and stability. This will coincide with the next Public Release.  http://www.amplitude.com

thanks Perry - so in terms of choosing a way to go forward re options, going with Amplitude (i.e. corona analytics, flurry, amplitude) would be a reasonable choice then right?  As corona has reviewed what’s available and chosen Amplitude then?

Also any rough timeframe for the next Public Release?  Or noting I have a Pro account I can just do straight to Amplitude now (well over the next few weeks) with the daily builds?  If you release something new in a daily build like Amplitude support however does it typically take a few weeks and a few daily builds to iron out any issues?

Hi Perry - I haven’t seen Amplitude listed yet in the daily build API page here? (http://docs.coronalabs.com/daily/api/library/analytics/init.html)  Does this indicate it’s not ready yet?

You can find the documentation here:
