Android - Builds OK, installs "OK", error when runs. All apps including sample code.

Hi Guys,

Newbie here. I’m building apps for Android using the instructions and using the Debug key.

The various .apk files are created fine on either Windows or Mac and I can then pop them onto my Apache server to download onto my Samsung GT-S5830 (Android 2.3.6, ARM 11 processor).

Once they’re installed (I’ve enabled Unknown Sources on my 'phone), I can try to launch them, but get an error:

"Sorry! The application (process ) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

I am choosing sensible names for my packages.

This occurs for my apps (possibly no surprise), but also for builds of the Sample Code (FrameAnimation1 and Clock, for example)

Any thoughts?

i am not sure, but isn’t the ARM11 based on ARMv6 architecture? Because v6 is no longer supported… [import]uid: 90610 topic_id: 26711 reply_id: 108244[/import]

Dingo is correct, that is an armv6 device which corona doesn’t support. [import]uid: 84637 topic_id: 26711 reply_id: 108251[/import]

Thanks Guys,

That does seem to have been the problem…

Thanks again [import]uid: 143144 topic_id: 26711 reply_id: 108304[/import]

Hi guys i saw this post and i have the same problem but with this phone: http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_fire_xt-4160.php, it doesn’t say its arm11 or anything like that…

I can’t seem to find the specifications of the phones supported by corona sdk, i assume that my cell phone is not supported (because none of the builds i made work), can you guys help me finding which devices/cpu’s are supported? [import]uid: 141404 topic_id: 26711 reply_id: 108992[/import]

I am facing exactly same problem. Any solutions guys?
My phone is Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 [import]uid: 69204 topic_id: 26711 reply_id: 109037[/import]

Hi Team Corona,

Just to confirm, I’ve replaced my phone with an ARM v7 phone and the problem has gone away.

This is quite a good reference as Firefox has the same issue (I think):

Hope this helps…

Hi,

This could be a naive question.

Are any of you guys worried that Corona-based apps wont run on Android phones? The only Android phone that I have seems to fail on both counts (Android is too old 2.1 and the processor is no good Arm 11). Its a cheapy but was purchased recently from the carrier on a plan.

What happens for example if someone buys my corona-based app and the only feedback they get is that the application stops unexpectedly? Most users wounldn’t know which Arm they have.

@nharper: i think google store sorts out all the devices without armv7. so no need to worry about that, I guess?! [import]uid: 90610 topic_id: 26711 reply_id: 114019[/import]

Thanks dingo you are right. I looked at some of the apps on the corona “case study” pages. They are listed when I search from the android store on my desktop machine but when I search from this phone using the google marketplace then they don’t show up since the phone wont support them.

It would be interesting to know what percentage of Android phones out there in the marketplace can run apps made using corona. [import]uid: 158162 topic_id: 26711 reply_id: 114149[/import]
