Android device reboots during gameplay

Hi,

One of our beta testers have reported that his device reboots when playing our Corona-based game. He tried multiple times and the device rebooted each time.

Gameplay was choppy and after a  10-30 seconds the device rebooted.

He is using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, model SM-T210 ( http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_3_7_0_wifi-5423.php ), Android 4.4.2

He could see that the GPU was at 100% usage at the crash, but had no other information. This device uses the PowerVR SGX540 GPU which I think Corona has had problems with before?

We are using Graphics 2.0 and the physics engine with the latest release of Corona (2015.2646)

Has anyone else seen this?

Does your game work fine on all your other test(er’s) devices?  If not, then this sounds like:

  • some kind of leak, and/or
  • runaway content creation, and/or
  • runaway process creation

I’m out for most of the day, but I’d be happy to run your game later if you want.  I have two android devices and a debug setup, so I can probably give some more feedback on this if it occurs.

Thanks for the suggestions. We have tested it pretty extensively on ~10 different Android models without any problems.

We actually tried it on a very similar model as the beta tester, a SM-T113, the first thing I noticed was that it uses a different GPU… interesting to see if anyone has had similar problems on that GPU model.

I’ll take you up on the testing offer! :slight_smile: Need some more Android coverage…
