Hi all,
Just wondered…
Does anyone know if there’s a way of me excluding devices in Google Play and / or Amazon by screen size?
I only want to offer a particular app for tablets - not phones with smaller screen sizes.
Thanks,
Ian

If I remember correctly, doesn’t Google Play give you lots of options for deciding which devices can/cannot download the app?
I’m fairly sure you can manually specify which devices can/can’t, so I would imagine there is a phone/tablet or screensize option.
Hi there,
Thanks for the response. There is a page where you can exclude devices but no option of checking tablets / phones / screen sizes as far as I can tell.
You have to individually go through over 4000 devices and exclude all the ones you think may be tablets. Seems absurd as surely this is a fairly common thing to want to do!!
I’m sure I must be missing something but I just can’t see anywhere that I can specify to only allow the app to be downloaded by devices with a screen size of 7 inches or above for example…
If anyone else has any advice / thoughts on this then let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ian
Just found this topic from earlier in the year: http://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/29773-is-there-a-way-to-restrict-android-apps-to-tablets-only/
Apparently you can use this in build.settings:
supportsScreens ={ smallScreens = false, normalScreens = false, largeScreens = true, xlargeScreens = true,}
I’ve never tried it, but a staff member confirms this will work. I’m not sure how it decides on how “big” a screen is (i.e. whether it uses physical dimensions, number of pixels, or something else entirely).
Aha! Thanks - I knew there had to be something simpler than manually filtering 4000 devices!
Much appreciated - you’ve saved me a very boring and very time consuming job.

Just another thought. Do you know if this is referring to the resolution of the screen or the actual physical screen size?
Thanks.

As you can see, I didn’t know which size it is referring to either.
Sorry - totally missed that! I’m having one of those days. This topic was also useful for anyone else who might be struggling with this…
