Android Devices with an ARMv7 processor

Just wondering which devices have an ARMv7 processor, coz many *affordable* Android devices for testing are ARMv6 or earlier. So just wondering what devices are there that are supported so that I can look for those here.

cheers,

There are far to many Android devices with those specs to name. Most Android devices including the “affordable” ones that are available now do support ARMv7. I haven’t read about any that have come out in the last 6 months or so that don’t (except for maybe the knock offs from China). Keep in mind that the device also has to be running Android 2.2 or newer and there are still a disturbing number of devices that support ARMv7 but are running older versions. Anything using a Cortex A8/A9 or Snapdragon based SOC will support ARMv7. You might also consider buying an older device from eBay or Craigs List such as the original Droid. If you can get your app running smoothly on an older device than it should run on just about anything. [import]uid: 27965 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 39903[/import]

@ckausisk,
Hi, thanks for that list, it will make it easier to search for a compatible device to test.

Does anybody know if I would I be able to test my apps on the Samsung Prevail?
I can’t find full specs on the processor.
It does run on 2.2 though. [import]uid: 20408 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 41320[/import]

Bump, anyone of these that people are using with success and can vouch for?

I don’t want to invest in a new droid and then have abysmal performance or some other non-functional req failure. [import]uid: 58849 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 46924[/import]

Take a look at FireFox supported devices list for Android.

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements

All compatible devices on that list should also work with CoronaSDK apps as long as they have Android 2.2+ as the OS. [import]uid: 10478 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 46926[/import]

@PixelEnvision: unfortunately that is not true. Same app crashes of on many devices from that list with 2.2, but runs fine others without problem. [import]uid: 19297 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 46950[/import]

@ckausik

Thanks for the update, can you please name few of those devices causing app crash? That’ll help much I’m also looking for a test device…

Also do you know if those crashes caused by low level ARMv7 & 2.2 support problems or might be because of some bugs? Does the crashes happen on app install, or when launching or after a while? [import]uid: 10478 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 46978[/import]

Well, that’s pretty much it. I’d rather rely on someone who has actually tried a device on a build >= latest stable build of Corona than rely on generic lists. If I just buy an ARMv7 device without any other parameters it’s like buying a lottery ticket. [import]uid: 58849 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 47034[/import]

@PixelEnvision: HTC Desire, Desire Z(T-Mobile G2), Droid (not sure which flavor) are some of the devices which crash at startup of the app. [import]uid: 19297 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 47703[/import]

@ckausik thank you…

I’ll just wait a couple of days more till new release as there are some android fixes in the daily builds that might help with the problem… [import]uid: 10478 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 47709[/import]

I’m considering getting a Nook Color to use as a general Android test device.

Tech specs:

There’s a lot of info on the web that says it’s easy to load different versions of Android onto the Nook Color. For example:

Does anyone have any experience or opinion on if this is a good idea? [import]uid: 17085 topic_id: 10955 reply_id: 47727[/import]
