Android download issue "download error Licensed"

We have 16 live apps up on the android store, and have been on it since Sept. Occasionally I will hear from a customer that they are having trouble downloading it. I just got a device to test on (yes just now) and had the same issue myself. I can download the app just fine but trying to open it I get the error “download error Licensed”.

I have tried all the steps that seem to be listed everywhere as android download app errors, such as restart, clear cache, remove google account and put back on, etc. Nothing has worked. I have worked with some customers who were nice enough and wanted our app enough to try the steps with me, most just immediately want a refund with out even telling me what error message they saw. And the few who worked with me couldn’t make it work either.

The tricky thing is I am watching our overall installs and current installs and those numbers are slowly going up so people are downloading apps and opening them. since I can sit and download an app 10 times but get my error and not be able to open it so I think the numbers only correspond to successful downloads and opens.

I found this post http://forums.coronalabs.com/topic/52429-android-expansion-file-not-licensed-error/#entry272564 and followed the steps and checked all my permissions in my build.settings, config.lua, and main.lua and everything looks fine.

Is it a device issue? is it a build or license issue?

I have been trying to figure this out for months and just can’t find a straight answer. I have contacted googleplay and they do not offer any kind of technical support. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I’m in the thread that you referenced and still having the same problem too…

I’m in the thread that you referenced and still having the same problem too…

I just had a customer sending me a screenshot of the same thing.

Download Error Licensed

What he did was after downloading the game(with expansion file), his SD card got corrupted and has to replace a new one. The game doesn’t work so he removed the game and re-installed it, but unable to download resource file due to the  Download Error Licensed

I myself didn’t have this problem so I can’t test but here’s what I suspected:

  1. You moved the game to SD card, then try to download again the resource file but failed.

  2. Your phone is rooted

  3. Somehow samsung galaxy S3,4 has more download issues.

I updated the game and resource file to see if the problem still persist. Will update this thread with my findings later.

If it was an issue with your code, no one would be able to install it.  Since this only happens to a few people, then its usually something unique with their account or device.  My first suspicion would be a rooted device.  We can’t possibly support rooted devices.  The second interesting thing was the corrupted SD card.

If you can collect a little more information, perhaps there is something engineering can do to harden this.  We will need a bug report.
