I was wondering when Corona would implement the Google Licensing service since the copy protection feature is now officially depreciated. Also, I could not find this info myself because everyone seems to say different things, but to use IAP on Android, does Google require you to use the licensing service? With “Copy Protection” no longer available from Google’s Developer Console as of Feb. 27, 2013, you have 2 choices:
1: Distribute apps without protection
2: Use Google’s Licensing Service
I will only build for Android now if my package can be protected. First glances appears that Corona will need to support (embedded?) Google’s License Verification Library (LVL) at a minimum.
I’m very happy Corona removed permissions INTERNET, READ_PHONE_STATE, and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE from all Android builds - now potential users won’t be scared away.
Supporting Google’s licensing protection would be a great advancement IMHO because without it, apps for Android are not worth building for without protection.

The engineers are working on a solution to the licensing service. We don’t have an ETA though.

Any updates? The old copy protection will no longer be available very soon. [import]uid: 145848 topic_id: 36156 reply_id: 144245[/import]
