Hi Scott,

Congratulations with your 6th app!

I’m also thinking about making some apps for kids but I’m wondering if it’s worth the effort.
Are you developing in your spare time or are your self employed? and if you’re self employed can you live from your apps?

My apologies if the questions are a little bit bold (I’m dutch! :wink: )…I’m not asking figures and of course, if you don’t want to answer…that’s perfectly fine! :slight_smile:

Ivo

Great Graphics.

Are you willing to share : with which software you created these graphics ? [import]uid: 83418 topic_id: 30596 reply_id: 122651[/import]

@scott - congrats on your latest app!

@ivke2006 - if Scott doesn’t answer your question, I will. =) After 1 year with Corona, I’m now working on my 7th children’s app. I’m working full time as an independent developer, and the net amount I’m making per month from my apps is around $1,200US per month. It’s not enough to make a living, so luckily I have some savings to help for now. Hope that gives you some insight. [import]uid: 82194 topic_id: 30596 reply_id: 122673[/import]

@ivke2006 - I currently create these apps in the middle of the night instead of sleeping :slight_smile: To answer your question though about making a living off of kids apps, I think it would be very doable (especially if you are in a country with socialized health care - which I am not). There are several benefits to making kids apps: they do not take nearly as much time to make, there is a lower level of expectation in most areas (graphics just need to look cute, music not so important, etc), having more apps gives you more room to cross promote and more chances to get featured, your own kids can use them (if you have any), educational institutions are starting to use tablets more and more.

My current goal is to be creating apps full time within nine months and this seems extremely achievable.

@Mila - Well… I was about to purchase Illustrator, but I got lazy and did not want to take the time to learn it. So I continued with my current program - Paint.net I made the images @4x and then shrank them down. It will come back to bite me when @8x is required for super retina :slight_smile: [import]uid: 79834 topic_id: 30596 reply_id: 122770[/import]

@Scott & @David:

Thanks you for your answers! I hope you both can live from your apps very soon.
