Hello everyone!
I would like to announce Jamboogle , an endless puzzle game, is now available on the App Store, and coming very shortly to Google Play.
Using Corona has been a great experience - the ability to so rapidly prototype, develop and iterate new functionality makes it a very powerful tool. The comprehensive API reference is also a huge plus - so thanks guys!
I’m very keen to share my experiences of developing Jamboogle both with the Corona community and beyond, so I will be launching a dev blog shortly, the first post being very near complete. Time permitting, I would love to discuss a number of topics detailing the entire process, including:
-
Trying (and often failing) to mitigate feature creep by simplifying or removing features so you can actually get a game released.
-
Why I chose Corona over alternative game engines.
-
The challenges of building a game with a small or single person team and how to try and work around some of the limitations this can impose on you.
-
The logistical aspects of launching a game - App Store submission, In App Purchases etc.
-
Game aesthetics and implementing an appropriate graphic style
-
As well as more specific posts about how the look and feel of the game changed over time, why these changes were implemented and the tools I ended up employing in the development process etc.
I would love to hear any feedback you guys have, will keep you all updated on the release on Google Playand the dev blog, and will endeavour to get a gameplay video up shortly!
